The thing is there are just as many people out there who probably feel the same way in the other direction. That's where it all comes into play. There's no such thing as a RIGHT political view. It's all a matter of opinion. There are going to be disagreements between people even down to within the same household. You might think someone is horrendous but I promise you other people out there are feeling the same thing the other way. Yelling about that and calling them ignorant/stupid and whatever other name you decide to call them isn't going to help your cause. You should be talking about it and trying to help people instead of dismissing them as ignorant. If you feel so passionate about something you have to teach other people not yell at them or about them for what they think is right. You'll never win if you go about it that way.
And hang on, when did you win the discus?

Addy - bless you! I, myself, choose to think I'm optimistic, but I think globally, not nationalistically. I truly believe that as a species we can overcome the negative influences that we have allowed to infest our lives - but I now feel that Americans personify that negativity (at least a majority of them, however small) and I will look elsewhere for my sense of hope.
So, in the words of Avenue Q, "It's only for now." Apparently 'now' has different boundaries than I was hoping for. So be it.
But DON'T cross MY path with any of the ideology that perpetuates this charade.

A view, political or otherwise, is by definition not true or false. It's how one person thinks and unless you're perfect, you can't judge how 'right' or 'wrong' it is.
Keep this in mind when flaming, please. I usually stay out of politics here because people can get crazy, but I had to give my two cents, for what it's worth.

insomniak that was my exact point. I don't express my political opinions one way or the other on this board I just try and get people to understand that neither side is definitively right or wrong.

There's nothing wrong with expressing your own views, just don't present your thoughts as absolute fact. That's what makes people mad. It's like talking to a brick wall when no one will consider another side.

You don't have to agree with someone, but you should at least try to understand where they are coming from and respect their right to that belief even if they do not respect your right to your beliefs. It's easy to operate at the level of mere disagreement, but it doesn't get anyone anywhere.
