I've always wished that I could be fluent in all the languages in the world. That would be oh so cool and oh so sexy...

For now, though, I'm working on my Spanish

um,no...? but yo comprende una poco espanol! (i think that spelling was wrong) and i speak broken Malay/Indonesian.

bystheword - that's what my parents keep telling me. especially since i'm chinese but i only "learned" chinese in the last few years. i hear it'll be useful if i ever want to deal with, you know, the free market, in the next few years.

Well I think they're right about it. I mean, I only speak English and God help me I'm taking Ancient Greek as my language now. I wish I had actually learned when I took French in high school.

My cousin actually does a lot of work with Japanese translating (he's fluent and his degree is in Asian studies) and he's been slowly working on Chinese because he says those two languages are going to be excellent for use.

Nina - Arabic is awesome! I wish I could speak/read/write. I can't for anything, but my Mom is fluent. I can recognize a few letters, and some words, because it's so similar to Hebrew.

DGrant - I'm sorry, Adam Pascal naked? Totally important. While I agree with your comment on perspective, I feel it is necessary to lose ourselves in frivolity, particularly when world events become so tense, such as tonight. That being said, Ohio is driving me nuts.

I retorted about principle, which seems to be becoming less and less important here. (Not the boards, but society as we know it).

Kerry won Hawaii, Michigan, and Minnesota according to CNN.

Wisconsin, Nevada, and New Mexico still need to be decided.

Iowa's ballot counting machines broke down and they're not getting new ones until tomorrow. Ohio is too close to call.

so it comes down to ohio.

bush by 145,000 this morning with 100% of precincts reporting.

190,000 provisional ballots.

so all jfk2 has to do is win better than 87.5% of those and he takes oh.

that's assuming of course that 100% of the provisional ballots are legit.
