Abby let go of your weenis and freaking listen, did I say take guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens? NO, I said make semi and automatic weapons illegal. Automatic weapons are already illegal without special permission from the Feds.

I think the biggest thing that frustrates me when these arguments arise is how much incorrect information gets spewed.

Fingerlakes - why do so many countries, with or without strong gun laws, have so much less violent crime, period, than the US? That's the question no one wants to try to answer.

It gets crazier. NRA head Wayne LaPierre calls for putting armed police officers in every school in the nation. Could we even afford that as a nation?

I did some traveling throughout the old south last week. Don't mean to stereotype folks down there but the familiar chorus was "they took the Lord out of the school house and now we're all witnessing the results" and "if Obama was more concerned bout protecting children than marrying gay folks we'd all be a lot safer".

Most of you have interacted with me enough on here to know that I'm not trolling.

And according to one of my aunts "ya'll best get to praying because this nation needs deliverance".

I know no one who has ever needed a gun. We do not hunt for food anymore. We buy it in markets. Our government is not going to take this country away from us, we do not need to be armed to protect ourselves against our government. None of my many children or their spouses or my grandchildren has ever owned or used a gun. None of my extended family has ever owned or used a gun. Most Americans do not own guns, most don't use guns, it's only when the exception like the recent killings in CT happen that we see this argument and hear about guns. This has painted an entirely wrong picture of my country. One nut case strikes and almost 300 million people are branded as gun zealots. The gun owners are wrong. The NRA is wrong. Most Americans would prefer it if the nut jobs didn't have guns."

BBC: More than 31,000 Americans have signed a petition calling for British TV host Piers Morgan to be deported.

The campaign was started by a journalist in Texas following Mr Morgan's CNN programme of 19 December.

The petition says the talk show host "is engaged in a hostile attack against the US Constitution by targeting the Second Amendment", which protects an individual's right to own guns.

"We demand that Mr Morgan be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens."

'Some woman'? Of many things in that letter it also gets pretty damn sexist.

Also 8 years as a Corporal in the enlisted armed forces makes me think there is a good reason why he did not soar up the ranks.

the verve of the gun enthusiasts for the constitution would be more impressive if it were consistent. where were their threats of violent rebellion when DOMA, which is in clear violation of the first amendment (CONGRESS SHALL MAKE NO LAW REGARDING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF RELIGION)? oh, there were none. they love their oiled killing machines more than they love their fellow human beings, and then dare to state that there must be some moral decay which is responsible for all these mass murders.
