Democrats Want Obama to Pick Clinton 60-33

Now that Strickland's damaged goods, it simply must be Hillary or Richardson.
My dream ticket was Obama-Sibelius while I was still affiliated with the Dems but PJ has already pointed out why Sibelious as Veep is a nonstarter.
Too much is at stake for the Dems to allow Obama to ruin their prospects of regaining the White House. He has to take counsel of the will of his (and Hillary's) base. If they want a Obama/Clinton ticket at this time then he has to deliver one or he's toast come Nov. It's just that cut and dry.
On the off chance that he doesn't pick up Hillary, there must be a deal on the table for Hillary to move into one of the following leadership positions (in no particular) with much fanfare:
1. governess of NY
2. Senate Majority Leader
3. Chair of the DNC - bye bye Dean & Brazile and good riddance!

No, what's counterproductive is saying that Obama is a fool and yet he and Hillary are both strong candidates.

I think your getting too defensive. I said he is a fool to overlook her as VP. I'm not saying I feel he is a foolish man or candidate.
I have not seen the Obama supporters simmer down. Just yesterday when Edwards supported Obama there was booing at the mention of her name. 50% of the Democratic party was insulted by that. Obama has shown he is popular with Democrats ONLY. Hillary IMO, is more popular with Independents and undecided voters. I want to win in November. I feel the Democrats would rather have Obama as their candidate knowing he can not win in November than to have Hillary as their candidate and have her win in November. Obama vs. McCaine? Need I remind you NO ONE felt Bush would win in 2004. NO ONE.
Obama supporters can not afford to gloat and be so arrogant. As a Hillary supporter, I know we need Obama just as he needs Hillary. They are not referring to them as the DREAM TICKET for nothing.
Having said all that, Obama is a fool if he does not pick Hillary as VP.

"I think your getting too defensive."
Pot to kettle...it's for you!
Honestly! Cheer up, everybody! The Republicans are splitting at the seams (seems?)! And it should totally go Death Star right around the convention when we're all holding hands and singing 'Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now' like they did on IDOL last night.
It's getting to the point where I'm gonna wish all white people were dead!

No, you didn't. NOW you just said that...
I also have very little control over how the audience in Michigan reacts to Hillary's name--I would imagine her supporters would react in much the same way--after all, we had voters in WV refuse to shake his hand because they think him a Muslim.
You obviously haven't been keeping up with exit polling if you think Obama only does well with Dems--the facts show otherwise.
I knew Bush would win in 2004--so there goes that theory too.
"I feel the Democrats would rather have Obama as their candidate knowing he can not win in November than to have Hillary as their candidate and have her win in November."
What evidence do you have of this? Other than a feeling?

Uh, yeah I did.I'm not defensive. I just wanted to clear up the foolish remark.I think either he read it wrong or I worded it wrong. Either way, I do not or ever did feel Obama was foolish.
Obama is seen as too liberal where McCaine and Hillary are seen as being more to the center. I didn't see Bush winning in 2004.I saw Kerry winning hands down. That was a very close race by the way, like the race between Obama and Hillary. Exit polls aside, I have seen polls showing Hillary leading with Obama and McCaine.
Point is, Obama needs to see Hillary as a strength. His supporters have to see it as well. She would be a HUGE asset to his campaign.

javero, she can't become ny gov until 2012. at which time she will be actively campaigning for the democratic nomination for president to run against whoever mac's vp is.
senate majority leader? with mac in the white house reaching across party lines to build consensus? that's a set-up for her to be pillioried by the net-roots. she's not that dumb.
chair of the dnc? that's a job she gives out, not one she takes.
bammy can offer her nothing she wants, save for a spectacular melt-down that would hand her the nomination.

So no 2nd term for McCain, papa?
And romantico...I don't think you're defensive. I understand that you get frustrated, I do too. And we O folks have calmed down ALOT. You might not notice it so much and those at political rallies might act up, but we (here) have turned it down several notches.

Papa,
If Paterson is forced to resign the NY constitution calls for a gubernational election in Nov. Also, Spitzer's term (currently held by Paterson) ends in 2010, not 2012 as I understand it.
If Obama flounders in the ge w/o Hillary on the ticket, two years of gubernatorial experience under Hillary's belt would make her a shoo-in for the party nomination 4 years out.
Hillary would be wise to have one of her surrogates push Paterson under the bus, j/k.
I suspect Paterson's been approached already by the Dem top brass about how it's in his interest to leak to the press that he's thinking of stepping down.

Lildogs, I think we are both passionate. We both feel our candidate of choice is the better one. What we need to embrace is, we are both on the same team. We both want the same thing.2 months ago I could decide who I felt was better. Where everyone else sided with Obama or Clinton I was still on the fence. I liked both.Still do, I just feel Clinton is better.
One month from now I am guessing (and I hope) that there will be no such thing as taking sides in the party attitude. We want the White House and I think we will unite.(I hope)
One thing I am glad of is the bickering between the Clinton supporters and Obama supporters are nothing compared to the ugly tactics the right wing engages in. I am sure we will see this by summer and fall.
As Jerby says, we need to work together.

i don't see it, lil. i think he's kinda doing this as a kamikazi run to try to do some things that he really thinks need doing and which are unpopular. i think he'll be able to build consensus on a lot of issues and get things done that need doing if he is willing to take the heat from the voters so the cowardly congress critters can blame him.
if i'm right, he'll get a lot done and consequently be unpopular enough - on both sides - at the end that he's willing to step aside "for health reasons" and let someone else take over the gop banner in 2012. the trouble is that his veep would be tarred with the same issues, but would be unlikely to step aside so it opens the door for the dems.

"Wait, why is Patterson needing to step down?"
If Hillary doesn't get the party nomination or the Veep nod, the party must accomodate her somehow.
Dean & Brazile won't give up their stranglehold on the DNC w/o a fight to the mortal end.
Yeah this is plenty mysogynistic but "hell hath no fury like..."
Silliness aside, Hillary and Obama both brought folks out of the wood-works this primary season and for their efforts deserve a perk or two from the party (and broadcasters for record ad revenues).

Brazile, as in Donna Brazile?
Isn't she just the head of a committee and a superdelegate? She's not listed on the DNC's website in an authoritative role, so I'm confused why you guys keep bringing her up with Dean's name. (Please DO correct me if I'm wrong.)

Posted: 5/15/08 at 12:42pmyeah, the democrats are going to force new york's first african american governor to step down. oh it is, 2010. she'd take office in january of 2011, i thought it was a 6 year term for some reason. so it would really be one year as gov and one comapaigning. but that's a pipe dream, governor's not happening. zero chance.

"but that's a pipe dream, governor's not happening. zero chance."
This time last year so was any notion of Barack Obama being a presumptive nominee. If Paterson has any skeletons in his closet, don't be surprised at a forecoming announcement.

he outed his skeletons in his acceptance speech. he has laid his life bare ever since getting into ofice. the scandals that would have sunk him have already been put through the media.
besides, call me a pollyanna, but i don't think that hillary would take the governorship of ny and bail in year two. she's a lot of things, but she knows how that would look.
unlike a senator bailing on his first term to run for president after he stated categorically that he would not do so.

Because governors are considered more presidential than senators.
Donna Brazile is the voice of the DNC on the cable news shows and supposedly the architect of the anti-Hillary strategy of punishing FL and MI with 100% disqualification, rather than the real rule, which is 50%.
That's why the Rules Committe is meeting on 5/31. The 100% disqualification is not entirely kosher.
