From yesterday's Quinnipiac poll:

Among Democrats, Obama is ahead slightly as 45 percent say they want to see him win the nomination while 41 percent want to see Clinton as the nominee. And Democrats say 63 - 34 percent that Clinton should stay in the presidential race.

By a 60 - 33 percent margin, Democrats say Obama should pick Clinton as his vice presidential running mate.

"Sen. Hillary Clinton's never-say-die campaign still has lots of fans. Just as in delegates, states, money, you-name-it, Obama leads her in national support - but only by a bit," said Maurice Carroll, director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

"Either Democrat leads Sen. John McCain, with heavy support from black voters. McCain has an edge among white voters."

"Party leaders may be cringing over the potential damage to Democratic chances in November from the endless primary campaign, but two-thirds of the rank-and-file think Clinton ought to keep battling," Carroll added.

"The 'dream ticket?' Three out of five Democrats like the idea."

I think it's going to be Edwards.

I don't think it's going to be Edwards. As for Clinton, my only problem is that it flies in the face of his 'change' theme.

I don't think it's going to be either one.
Edwards said he didn't want it, and I hear Obama is ticked that he waited so long to endorse him anyway.
And I just don't see Clinton being offered the position.

The Dems didn't carry NC with Edwards on the ticket, so I don't see Obama putting him on the ticket. I think the most likely choices are Sebelius or Strickland, but I think the best choice would be Hagel.

I keep telling you, Sibelius ended her chances of being on a national ticket when she delivered such an awful speech responding to the State of the Union.

What do you think about Hagel? A Republican Vietnam Vet who has been anit-war and very critical of the Bush administration.

If not Clinton -- and every day in May that once remote idea seems increasingly critical -- Strickland of Ohio? I'd bet cash money it won't be Edwards. He's beyond useless. He would've been pretty useless 3 months ago; now, he feels more like a hanger-on than a asset.

strickland's out. he'll be tarred and feathered by the marc dann baggage. who's marc dann? he's the ohio attorney general who finally broke down and resigned this week after admitting two weeks ago he was boning a girl on his staff. this came after he fired two guys in his office (with whom he shared an apartment for a while) for repeated sexual harrassment complaints including the one where the girl passed out in the afoementioned apartment and woke up with her pants undone and the ag's aide pantless next to her in a state of arousal. the inspector general's office just raided dann's personal office yesterday. nothing like a good scandal, huh?

You're right, Papa. I read that this morning. Baggage like Willy Loman's.

I still like the wild card asserted by pundits -- Chuck Hagel. Webb is the Democratic equivalent, philosophically re the war, but he's too green.

I read another asinine "Sibelius" report yesterday. Please God, do NOT do this to us. Just what we need on the ticket, a monotone automaton who has an even more off-putting name that "Hussein."

i'm sticking with richardson. i honestly think they are going to write off the working class white vote completely and try to win this with youth, academia and minorities. if they do, then richardson brings the latino vote supposedly which bammy needs desperately to offset the bubba vote.

i still don't think it's enough. what state does bammy pick up when he loses pa? the only reason kerry won pa (by 2) was the theresa heinz connction. it's going red.

hagel's not going on the democratic ticket any more than lieberman's going on the gop ticket.

I think Howard Dean and Donna Brazile are willing to lose the white working-class in exchange for a new influx of African-American and young voters.

As someone here said this week, "I hope those Reagan Democrats all die--and die quickly!" That's the attitude of the Obama supporters.

They're willing to lose this presidential election in a blaze of glory because they know that the additional voter registration will help local Democrats all over the country.

They'll take 4 years of McCain (gambling he won't last longer than that) in exchange for the new voters.

BINGO!!!!!

Obama may beat Hillary but he won't beat McCaine and the Democrats know this.

Love her or hate her, Obama needs Hillary more than she needs him. He is a fool and has ZERO chance without her on the ticket.

So why is she losing to a fool?

Why does Edwards prefer Obama?

Why is she $25 million in debt?

Why can't she defeat the one-term senator from Illinois with the dangerous name, the crazy Rev, the dark skin and the outspoken wife?

Who do you think is voting for Hillary? Are you ignoring her wins and voters? Obviously, you think she is a loser but she's won some prety big and important states I doubt Obama can carry in the fall. Are you aware how close this race is? Only a fool would dismiss and ignore Clinton. Sadly, Obama's supporters don't feel they need Clinton or her supporters. Good luck!

Yeah and how long did it take for Edwards to FINALLY endorse Obama? Why did Edwards tell People Magazine just 2 weeks ago he had no plans to endorse either candidate because both were great choices? Before gloating about Edwards support ask yourself what took him so long.

Yeah she is in dept but she is still going. Crazy as it sounds she has this wild idea that everyone in all 50 states should be heard. Obama declared himself the nominee after Iowa. Talk about arrogance.

Hillary and Obama are two STRONG candidates. Has the arrogance of the Obamaites ignored that too? You really think Hillary has nothing to offer? What other VP could bring the race closer for Obama than Hilary?

Obama NEEDS Hillary and I am not certain I will vote for him without her. Obama and his supporters need to change their attitudes real fast.

It's only 50% of the Democratic Party--that's who's voting for Hillary.

Nobody is ignoring her supporters and victories

Nobody is dismissing her

But to say that Obama is a fool doesn't speak well of Hillary. If he's a fool, then why has he won 32 states and she 16?

Edwards withheld his endorsement to counter Hillary's Tuesday wins--the Obama campaign expected to lose and knew that Edwards' endorsement wouldn't be enough to take WV or Kentucky.

So instead of wasting the endorsement to Hillary's landslide, they chose to wait and then push Hillary's win off the front page--brilliant politics if you think about it.

You say that Hillary and Obama are both strong candidates and yet Obama is a fool--which is it?

I think (at least the Obama supporters here) have cooled down the nastiness ALOT...I'm not sure what else you'd like us to do.

why has he won 32 states and she 16

STOP with that silly meme already or I'll keep asking why she's won MORE of the popular vote (counting FL and MI)!

Or I'll keep asking why she's won the 16 (or 18 ) states with the highest number of Electoral votes, or the 16 (or 18 ) states Democrats historically NEED to win the White House.

Don't you understand? It's asking those argument-inducing questions and repeating those memes that is counter productive.
