To answer the question - no, he did not deserve to win.

On a side note: for whatever reason he reminded me of a slightly chubbier, less talented version of Raul Esparza.

I don't hate the guy, he seems like a nice person. It's just that he reminded me of a less talented Raul Esparza who didn't deserve the title of American Idol.

Lee is a more charming version of Daughtry? Have you ever seen an interview with Chris Daughtry? He is one of the most lovely, funny, charming people I have ever seen. Lee is dull as dishwater next to him.

The only one of those top 12 that could have a good career would be Tim. As bad as he was, he's got the look at the personality to go far.

They would never do this but I think there should be a limit to the number of times people can vote. Teenage girls are the reason that Lee won over Crystal.

If they limit it to 5 calls/texts per telephone line we would see who the real winner is. The producers would never go for it because then they wouldn't be able to say that over 30 million votes came in.

I think everyone's forgetting that winning isn't everything. The winning Idol's first release is almost always awful (think Kelly Clarkson's "Thankful" compared to the rest of her discography) and I can't imagine they have as much creative control as they'd like. Crystal won't benefit from that, Lee will. Crystal will obviously get a recording contract, and will probably be able to choose from a couple. I'd rather see her hopefully have more creative control on an album then the cookie-cutter albums that Idol releases.

I also don't think it matters who sung better the night before. I doubt anyone was on the fence on who they would vote for and needed the performances from that one night to decide. Lee was generally more likable. What can you do?

It's a tv show that awards a record contract to someone who got the most votes from the American people. I'm not sure where the "deserve" part comes in.

Crystal was only the 'Front runner' if you listened to the judges- Lee out-polled her just about every week.

Lee is a Chicago boy, and I like him, but Crystal was far and away the best singer.

Daryl Hall should have won! Or Kelly Clarkson should have won again.

Daryl Hall looked like Old Deuteronomy and Kelly Clarkson looked like Dorothy Collins in the original cast of FOLLIES.

I can't even talk about Joe Cocker.

What Idol needs to change is remove the group performance during Hollywood week. This is when most of the good singers are taken out of the competition because they either didn't dance too well, didn't work well with others in their group, or if they forgot the lyrics. While they occasionally forgive some who forget lyrics, this should not be reason for good singers to be kicked off, then we're left with the crop we got this year.

So given what was left, then yes, Lee deserved to win. He wasn't the best singer but he was the most marketable and Idol-like. Unfortunately, compared to the earlier winners that they brought out, the quality has definitely been going down.

I was a little shocked that Lee won after his final performance night but,Lee absolutely deserved to win. Crystal had an amazing show during the finale but, Lee has had a good run coming up to the last show. He is extremely charming, humble, and has a nice tone to his voice. I think he will do well with his career.... I'll buy what he is selling=)

I thought the show last night was the best finale yet! Janet was a amazing as always. It was also really good to see Carrie, Kelly, and Fantasia all performing together.

The bigger issue to me was that the evening's true "event" was Simon's departure. And let's face it, the biggest, most dramatic cut is from 3 to 2, because many imes the #2 is the bigger success story. So all of the "suspense" is really over once it's down to 2. That's been the case since Ruben and Clay and last year was the nadir or zenith with those 2.

I think the blonde kid -- the #3 -- is one of the most marketable, by the way. He could do Broadway, movies, Branson, etc. He's very cute, affable and sings well enough. Look at who goes on to earn salaries -- it's often the also rans. Idol is an industry that introduces talented kids. But let's be real clear -- it ain't about the one who comes out on top.
