There is no reason for those threads to be removed or locked. They were pretty standard discourse for this board.

That's what I was saying, tazber. In comparison to other threads from this past year, why did that one get locked to responses, but the ones with true fights did not? I think ones that get deleted right away are ones that start off mean spirited or are obvious spammers.

If wishes were dollars, I'd be a thousandaire. But ya know what I wish? I wish trolls that are so desperate for attention from the very people who abhor it that they put the names of the people who have blocked them in their pathetic attention-seeking signature files would go ahead and block those people it is baiting so the whole charade of conversations it seems so intent on keeping up would vanish once and for all. That's what I wish.

That's simply not true. Speaking for myself, at any rate, I don't consider Mr. Roxy, Gothampc, or Papalovesmambo to be trolls. And there are several regular posters who to my knowledge haven't self-identified as conservative but whose viewpoints are frequently critical of the left, and I don't think they're trolls either.

To disagree with a viewpoint does not make someone a troll.

I've frequently maintained positions on topics that don't align with the majority of posters on BWW, but I'm not a troll.

As Reg said, there are some regular posters who have been part of the BWW community for many years who hold political views that are not liberal. They are absolutely not trolls.

What a ridiculous statement.

PS - I think we'd all do ourselves a favor to consider viewpoints other than our own from time to time...

The funny thing is, the people who are reguarlarly called troll by that small group hardly if ever get personal, call names or insult. its the ones who are loudest yelling troll that are the ones who do that, and are the ones who get deleted.

There are many reasons, however, why someone DOES fit the definition of a troll...

TROLL

1a. Noun
One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument.

1b. Noun
A person who, on a message forum of some type, attacks and flames other members of the forum for any of a number of reasons such as rank, previous disagreements, sex, status, etc.
A troll usually flames threads without staying on topic, unlike a "Flamer" who flames a thread because he/she disagrees with the content of the thread.

1c. Noun
A member of an internet forum who continually harangues and harasses others. Someone with nothing worthwhile to add to a certain conversation, but rather continually threadjacks or changes the subject, as well as thinks every member of the forum is talking about them and only them. Trolls often go by multiple names to circumvent getting banned.

Ugh, I read this thread without logging in.

The person above me is so disingenuous with all that "a small group of people call trolls who aren't trolls trolls even though they are not trolls" BS. That's right, I call BS on that troll.

Of course, its sig file is an example of exactly the trolling impulse that that very troll uses whenever that trolling troll posts a trolling post which is 95 percent of the time.

I haven't interacted with that troll in WEEKS and yet there is some version of my screen name first on its list. Yeah. Not a troll. AT ALLLLLLL.

If that troll weren't a troll and were truly not interested in the people it links, it would block said people in its sig file and THEN it would know what it's like not to be able to pretend it's in conversation with the peope who hate it. It, not its ideas. IT.

Then claiming i was a moderator, mikey, abbey, lizaheadband, a french woman. then you tried getting me kicked off the site unsuccessfully. then you lobbied for the ignore button but always "forget" to log on and then comment on me


just last week you called me a C**NT (without the stars) a whore, a russian whore, someone who has is pimped by her dad and worse. the worst thing i have called you is a lefty.

I have also on 3 occasions tried to have truce with you but instead you mocked me, even publishing my PM to you. despite it all i amm still willing just say the word, i used to enjoy our debates before they got ugly

Have faith in your convictions, but understand that not everyone is going to agree with you, and it's their right not to. Just as it's your right not to agree with all of their opinions.

You don't have to win every argument, and none of us will ever be friends with everyone on here. Just accept that.

Sometimes you just have to agree to disagree. It's ok to do so.

Oh and TROLL? I did not. I have long suspected that so many people dislike you here that you can't even keep them all straight. I didn't irectly espond to any single thing you posted last week.
