I find thers alot more frontal male nudity in film these days then before. I think more male actors are cool with showing off everything than they were before. Of course, foreign cinema is the best for non-stop nudity. They have 80 years old nude fixing eggs in the kitchen for christ's sake!
Oh, and speaking of Borat how come Borat's privates were covered w/black bars but the other guy's was not? Is Sascha Baron Cohen that insecure about the size of his winky? My question to Sascha would be, why even do the scene? Seriosuly. Couldn't that scene have been done and been just as funny if he was wearing a pair of underwear? When I saw that scene and saw the black bars the first that came to mind was censorship. Like someone was not allowing me to see this. I was pissed! NOTE TO ACTORS: Do NOT do a nude scene if you insist on blacking out or blurring/distorting your privates!!!!! Grrrr!!!

We all know your position on Nudity!
Speaking of Positions...
Now THAT was sick.
deep-delving, dark, deliberate you would say
browsing on spire and bogland; but today
our sky-blue slates are steaming in the sun,
our yachts tinkling and dancing in the bay
like racehorses. We contemplate at last
shining windows, a future forbidden to no one.

I recall them blacking out both guy's privates. But in any case, the fat guy's stomach covered it anyway. Also, didn't you even notice that Borat's black bar was unusually long as to suggest that he has a large package. It was part of the humor/comedy. See, it was a joke...not censorship.

I definitely agree that a film with no male nudity and tons of female nudity offends me big time.
Plus, its unfair!

I remember hearing that the director of "Fast Times At Ridgemont High", Amy Heckerling (?), wanted had a scene where you see the penis of one of the guys (I'm not sure if it was erect or not.) and was told that if she didn't take it out her film would get an "X". When she asked why she was told something like "Penises are threatening."

Gratuitousness is what I find offensive when dealing with sex, nudity or violence. When it exceeds the boundaries of the story being told simply to add a shock value and/or sell tickets. I'm also equally offended by sensationalized prudishness, where they go so far in the camera angles and lighting to show you so much but end up showing nothing at all but in a stylized or unnatural way.
I guess that's one of the reasons I loved Shortbus so much. It gave the pervs what they wanted to see (and I can't honestly say that I'm not included in that category), but after the sensory overload in the first 10 minutes or so, it used that blatant sexuality as a framework to tell a really beautiful story. For most of the movie, the lump was in my throat, not my pants.

This makes me think of Libby Gelman-Waxner's review of the Robin William movie "The Fisher King" and of the scene where he and Jeff Bridges lie naked in Central Park, to show what free spirts they are, Libby says that they get into such unnatural positions to not show their penises that you start to wonder if they even have penises.

Nudity does not offend me in any way, but, the disparity between male and female nudity does bother me. It probably comes from the fact that most movies are made by straight men, and are seen by striaght teenage boys, who are uncomfortable with male nudity.
And, I never want to hear anyone say again that they only do nudity if it's "integral" to the scene. Again, I'm all for nudity, because it's more natural and how people are. But most scenes can be filmed without it. It's 99% never "integral" to a scene. Some films are sexier without it, just the hint makes it more sensual.

The DVD has caused many actors to reconsider doing a nude scene. What used to be a fleeting image on film can now be paused , printed and distributed around the internet. Most major actors don't want to advertise their short comings
As an example - The movie "Total Eclipose" showed the world that Leonardo Di Caprio was far from "Titanic".
As for me, I think male nudity, especially for cute actors under 30 , should be mandatory.

I remember this one commedienne saying that, in movie, she's seen about 8,000 breasts and Richard Gere's penis once "through a dense fog".
I'm not sure if I should post this next bit on this thread or the Eli Roth one. I heard on an NPR piece about horror films that the Film Ratings Board was going to give "Hostel 2" an NC-17 rating because, in the scene where the woman is taking a blood bath, the woman was rubbing her nipples at in one shot. After the nipples-rubbing scene was removed, it could get an R.
That shows what a sad joke the Film Ratings Board is.
