Posted: 9/20/06 at 8:57pmI haven't seen the show, except part of one episode where a metal beam goes through a white girl and a black guy and they become stuck to each other. I was visiting a neighbor and it was playing in the background. It looked interesting. Unfortunately, I left before the show ended. What happened to them?

Posted: 9/20/06 at 9:24pmI finally sat down to watch it tonight, but the story line about cutting the guy's LVAD lines so he'd qualify to get a heart that's available for transplant is just WAY over the top. I'll try to be open-minded, but it's not been a good way to start.

Posted: 9/20/06 at 9:31pmiflitifloat - To understand the emotional impact of that episode, you really need to see the full season to understand Izzie, Denny and their relationship. Once you've watched it flourish, the whole storyline is just heartbreaking.

Posted: 9/20/06 at 9:38pmI really don't get the Grey's hype, but we have it on tonight (honestly haven't really been watching)...Did love "She cashed in her V-card" though.

I'm sure the story line IS heartbreaking, but Izzie better not get off without facing those severe consequences, that's all I can say. If the guy who was supposed to get the heart dies before another comes along, I hope they have a story line that shows her being charged with murder.
And they wonder why people distrust the medical community.

Posted: 9/21/06 at 8:46amIt is this running joke thing with the girls on the show. Theyh nickname every hot guy McSomething. Dr. Shepard is McDreamy (the first Mc), then his rival, the man his wife cheated on him with showed up and they named him McSteamy, now there is McVet the guy who Meredith is seeing now- well at least as of the season finale. We'll have to see how that goes.

iflit, tonight at 8pm they'll air second half of last years season finale. You'll see what happens with Izzie and Denny..... and between Meredith, McDreamy and McVet..... and what happens with Burke and Christina. Very smart of them to re-air the season finale right before they air the season premiere.
A lot of people are pissed off at the Meredith and McDreamy storyline, understandably..... personally, I cant wait to see what happens. It sucked me in lol

I'll elaborate. The gay community gets so much crap for "flaunting our lifestyles" and leading "promiscuous" lives. Many of us have to hide our gay identities in the workplace in order to assure that we won't be discriminated against when it comes to promotion.
That said, GREY'S ANATOMY is just one big joke at the center of American network television "popular culture". Watch the young, good looking straight people in an all straight world having random sex with their co-workers in their all-straight workplace (in this case, doctors), doing anything but their jobs (which, in this case, happens to be saving people's lives) in the workplace.
Now of course, without the inter-office sexcapades, GREY'S ANATOMY would not make for very good television. It wouldn't bring in the ratings it does, it wouldn't be nominated for Best Drama Series (that's a joke, right?) among other awards, hell, it wouldn't even be on the air. That's the nature of television. Give the people what they want and the ad dollars roll in.
Gay people do not exist as everyday people in the world of television, unless it's a situation of "laugh at the homos" (WILL & GRACE). Kids watch this sh!t (television) thinking that it is a representation of the real world. "Gay people? What are they? Well, there aren't any in my real life. There aren't any on television. There aren't any in the movies. My parents don't have anything (good) to say about them."
Yet show after show gets churned out with the layout of Watch the young pretty straight people in their all straight world have random sex with other straight people in their all straight workplace.
This is a huge reason why so many of us spend the main chunk of our everyday lives (8 hours at work) in fear of being ourselves; lying or keeping quiet when others talk about their boyfriends/girlfriends, husbands/wives; staying silent when that every-so-often gay joke slips out of someone's mouth and no one thinks twice.
Television imitates real life imitates television imitates real life. Gay people, meanwhile, remain SILENT (as we have always been). We don't have a voice. People can't take our relationships seriously because they don't know our relationships, have no exposure to them, and frankly have no interest in trying to get to know them. Why should they? They go to work everyday, come home to their husbands/wives, sit on their asses and watch this garbage on television that just reinforces the fact that, not only are we inferior, but we simply do not exist in this universe.
So it comes time for election day. They enter the little booth (if they even have a reason to get up from in front of the television and go to the voting booth), they see the question of whether or not marriage should be a union between only a man and a woman, and the answer is simple. Is there anything else besides a man and a woman together? Why change something familiar to something completely foreign if it has no effect on me? Protect the children. Keep things the same.
GAY PEOPLE DO NOT EXIST.
