Posted: 1/16/07 at 11:07pmI believe there was a fourth song written for the film--"Perfect World", and it was performed (in the film) by the group that sounded like the Jackson Five. :)

Posted: 1/16/07 at 11:16pm"Love You I Do" is my favorite song from the film. Right from the opening chords, it immediately puts me in such a good mood. I love it.

Joshua...
I completely agree! Besides "THE SONG", "Love You I Do" is definitely my favorite J-Hud song... if not overall song from the movie.

Oh I didn't know "Perfect World" was written for the film too.
I jam to that one in my car a lot.

Posted: 1/16/07 at 11:21pmI actually like this song more than "Listen." I am disappointed to see that "Listen" is receiving Oscar buzz, and "Love You I Do" is going without notice.

Posted: 1/17/07 at 12:08amI like the film songs but they would stick out like sore thumbs if they were put in the stage production.

"Love You I Do" is my favorite new song for the film. I start my day off with it every morning. I know it's a bit obsessive, but I can't help it.
'Patience', 'Listen' and 'Love You I do' are all on the list of 56 songs that will be considered for Oscar nominations... I know that 'Listen' has been nominated at other awards shows, but what is the probability that either of the other two could be... and can they/will they nominate two from one movie? I know 'Over the Hedge' has about four that qualify.

I wish Over the Hedge would get a nomination. Because my life would be complete if I could watch Ben Folds on the Oscars.

I'm sorry to go off-topic, but I think THAT movie deserves to be nominated over Cars. Easily Pixar's worst movie, and I'm a huge fan of theirs. Some good moments, but it's a half hour too long, and is (at times) dull as anything.

Over the Hedge's big song (Rockin' the Subburbs) was pre-existing and therefore not eligible.
And Cars aside, Over the Hedge is one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

I agree, I think "Love You I Do" is the best of the new songs. Definitely better than "Listen," which sounds much too contemporary to be in the 70's portion of the movie.

I do like "Still" from Over the Hedge. I thought it is a poignant song used to great effect in the movie. If any of the songs from that movie should be nominated, I think it should be this one.

Really? Wow. Don't know what to say to that.

Yeah, I didn't think it was that bad. I think it's deserving of a nomination. Maybe not a win, but I thought it was cute.

I LOVE this scene in the movie. It is definitely one of my favorite parts. Jennifer's acting while she sings this is great.
And I agree with those above who said it is a much better song than 'Listen'

I really think they did a great job with the songs they added for the move. They're all very strong.
Can someone explain to me how the Prince song from Happy Feet beat "Listen" at the Globes?? I nearly fell off my chair.
#22re: Dreamgirls - Love You I Do
Posted: 1/17/07 at 1:42pmBetter question: Can someone explain to me why, when Prince won and was OBVIOUSLY there, he didn't come up to accept?
