I would have to say NO cause I have no money. Maybe if I had a bunch of extra money then it would be fine, but I don't and that's why this board is so great.

I'm with Beav - I have too many board "friends" who are younger - I have no desire to be part of an "adults only" board. We have threads for that already, which is good enough for me.

oh, it's not just internet paranoia. i could tell you some tales from my old aol chat room days that'd curl yer toes. based on that and some tales from various others in whom i have faith, i feel comletely safe in saying that just because you're not hearing about it don't mean it ain't happening.

I would vote for a Students Board, so people could talk about classes and papers and how much they hate their parents and how much they love anybody who ever had any connection to Wicked and stuff like that.

I realize there are reasons for paranoia, but that's not the only thing that comes into play here.

For the record, I'm in the younger camp, but I'm not a minor. I still think this is ridiculous.

Personally I wouldn't pay for a msg board here or anywhere else. I don't pay on gay.com or gaydar either, and if they started charging I'd stop going.

I think us cuspers, Emcee, would feel out of place at both a "Students" board and an "Adults ONLY" board. It seems it's targeting either the teenyboppers or the middle-agers (even though in theory it's for anyone over 1, with no room in the middle.

Right, Tiff. But it's not even in that I wouldn't feel at home on either side of the fence, it's that I hate elitism. I was always slapped around because I was just a dumb kid, and I love this board because people (most people, anyway) will listen to what I have to say regardless of that god-awful number I have attached to me. I think it's terrible to openly ignore and degrade such a percentage of the population AND people who contribute so much to this community and THEN to go and pretend it's because of paranoia when it's nothing but holier-than-thou age-ism, and elitism.

Ellie, the senility's kicking in. With any luck, she missed your post.

Emcee, was the intended purpose of creating an adult only board to calm any paranoia over predators out there? While I'm not going to say that this place doesn't have its share of manipulative perverts, I don't think it's a major issue. And as for why so many adults have been leaving lately, I think it has to do more with the personal attacks and ugliness between the adults, and due to the influx of young'uns on here.

I'm sensing that the value of anyone's perspective is not Jose's concern. He seems to be responding to the fact that many times the double-entendres and insinuations can get pretty thick around here. I would imagine that as someone involved with monitering the content of the site, the fact that there are many underage people participating makes it uncomfortalbe as to where to draw the line.

Personally, as there is an established interest in not allowing overt pornography, I'd say leave the moniterring of suggestive content up to the parents. Ultimately, I believe it's their responsibility anyway. I'm not sure that weight needs to be taken on by the moderators of an open forum. Updated On: 2/22/05 at 01:49 PM

Tiff - I'm viewing the intent here as another straw in the general sense of maligning. I'm really not so sure it's all about protection, and concern for the younger eyes on the board. What I meant was that the paranoia and concern being displayed, as I see it, are disguises for elitism. Sometimes, people can't really accept that younger people have valuable thoughts. And feelings.
