Indeed. In fact my first exchange with you was when I mentioned anyone over 31 being relatively geriatric, and I remember your feathers getting ruffled.

Emcee, thank you for all of your posts. I agree entirely, but I have to add my piece as well.
A lot of those who have voted for the Adults Only board are members who, to my observations, have never or rarely interacted with the younger age bracket on bww. It would seem that many assume all we do is complain about teachers and parents and while that happens, there have been intelligent exchanges that most people wouldn't know of unless they really got to know us. Please, don't assume everyone under twenty-five is illiterate and idiotic. There are many teenyboppers around, but weed through those and you'll find some really bright human beings. I'm amazed that some bww posters could actually be the same age as me because of how mature and thoughtful they are.
To the Adults' credit, some of the most intelligent conversations I've had have been facilitated by them. The younger generation really gains a lot by reading and participating in discussions with the adults of broadwayworld.com. One of my favorite things about this board is the chance it's given me to connect with people I might not have spoken with otherwise because of the age gap. The things they've said have given me a lot to think about and opened me up to some new ideas and I'd hate to lose that oppertunity because of an Adults Only board.

José, I would like to remind you that I am over the age of 18.
The current age minimum will not lock-out all of the erratic, immature posts.
Just thought I'd bring it to your attention.

First of all, Flowery makes a very true point
.
Second of all, There are many "adolescent" young adults on this board who are very very mature for their age. I wouldn't even know most of their ages if they never told me. That's one of the special thing about these boards. Everyone is equal, regardless of age. If you create an "Adult Only" board, it would just create a crack in the equality we all love and enjoy.

Thanks, DGrant.
Flowery is right, there is plenty of immaturity among the non-minors, though I would not count her among those people.

Posted: 2/22/05 at 6:54pmso many of the arguments i've read seem to act as if all of broadway world was about to become an adults only porn site. i don't think (in fact i'm almost positive about this) that jose was proposing any change to the current bww. if such a board were to be started it would certainly just be another part of bww.com (if there were support for it). an addition as it were. but if you want more than $25/year then we better get some bells and whistles.

Please continue to post your opinions, and to email them to me as well.
To those of you who have written, requesting anonymity of your viewpoint, anonymity is assured.
To those of you who continually post your negative response, a reminder that only 1 vote per member over 18.
Here's an interesting observation. Many of you read the idea and understood it correctly. Simultaneously, however, a number of the more vocal of you read the same idea and appear to have misunderstood it completely.
So we seem to have three distinct groups
1. Under 18's who dont' want to be left out of the Adults' Board
2. Over 18's who want to interact with the teens (& younger)
3. Over 18's who like to have a private place where they can retire to chat with other Adults, without constantly being mindful of what they say/what they post because of "the children"
Stay tuned.

So allow me the pleasure of getting this straight.
If this board happens, why would chronological adults still post here?
Jeez. All for useless segregation of this community, say aye.

Well, speaking as a legal adult (though I don't feel much like one) I have a few opinions on the idea of an adults-only board:
The biggest reason I can see for it is that all the adults can feel free to deal in innuendo and suggestive pictures to their heart's content, without worrying about corrupting any unsuspecting minors. Considering the fate of our beloved "muy angry" threads, this is a pretty valid reason in my opinion. :)
However, the other reasons, both stated and implied, are not valid at all in my opinion. If you want to keep out immature people, an over-18 rule isn't going to cut it. I know this will startle some of the kid-haters on the board, but plenty of the nastiest, dumbest, and most inane posts here have been made by people well over 30.
And all of you who are so damn sick and tired of the babies talking about school and their parents can kiss my ass. I don't see the "kids" complaining when adults talk about their lives. I think one of the strengths of a good board is the diversity of experiences and viewpoints its members bring. And the snobbery I see hidden (and not-so-hidden) in this thread is damn disappointing in that respect. If you want to talk only to "sophisticates" like yourself, fine. I'm not going to beg you to please please pay attention to poor little me. (By the way, this is the part where I give you the finger.)
Anyway, if this new board gets established, I'm not joining, even if it means I'll never get to post shirtless guy pics again. :) Even though most of my friends on this board are over 18, I don't feel like restricting my conversations to those people alone. And I sincerely hope that the adults I respect don't confine their activities to that board.

Mistress, who knows what it would cost?
I would bet, however, that if one can afford to buy a pack a cigarettes over the couse of 12 months, or say 5 pints of beer over the course of a year, one should be able to afford this if one chose to do so.
I don't know whether you smoke or drink, of course, as I've never met you, but I thought I'd provide some relative comparisons lest cost be seen as an obstacle.

Theatres do not have "sections" for older or younger people to sit in, this board should welcome everyone regardless of age.
Did someone mention shirtless icons??????????

You convinced me, Plum, right up until that shirtless icons bit. You mean there's an outlet where shirtless Hugh, Tyson and Jason Lewis can grace us with their presence?
Screw you guys, then. Where do I sign up?
In all seriousness, though, I say start a new board if there's enough interest. Anyone who's going to join and ditch here aren't people who value us anyway.

Tiff, I can point you towards any number of Hugh Jackman drooling communities where shirtlessness is not just allowed, but encouraged. :) But the levels of conversation there don't usually go far beyond OMGSO HOTTT!!1!
As far as this board goes, I'd rather keep the conversation, even if it means sacrificing the drool.
