re: ER needs to be cancelled.

Mmmm... could Billy Campbell join ER?
JOHN LITHGOW I just realized, your last name is Butz! Both "Norbert" AND "Butz" are in your name! You must have gotten picked on a lot as a child!

re: ER needs to be cancelled.

Billy Campbell on ER. That's when I WOULD stop watching.

re: ER needs to be cancelled.

I didn't start really whatching it untill last season they . Then I saw the older one's in ruruns during the summer and the older one were WAY better. I think my favorite was the one Greene died. It was so sad and it was the first time a T.V show made me cry. How long has this been on anyway?

The towel waving reminded me of a Per?nist rally. I kept chanting "Evita!" whenever they'd pan to the crowds. - SM2

Bring back Romano! And yes, I'm serious. He was the one reason I watched the show. They sorely misused him.

re: ER needs to be cancelled.

didn't aaron sorkin used to write this-when did he leave?

re: ER needs to be cancelled.

I honestly didn't realize it was still running. I don't watch much TV as you can tell.

re: ER needs to be cancelled.

I have over the past several seasons, changed from one of the faithful to a once-in-a-while viewer. I watched the Ray Liotta episode, and thought it was one of the more honest episodes I've seen in a very long time. And it actually moved me to teariness at one point.

But yeah. In general, it's long past time to go. I think that there are only so many stories that that a show like ER can tell without straying out of their territory. Initially, it reflected a real situation made a little more interesting and a little more glamorous. It has strayed so far from reality, that it's almost impossible for me (I'm a nurse) to watch without getting totally irritated.

re: ER needs to be cancelled.

Aaron Sorkin wrote West Wing and was fired a couple of seasons ago.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

re: ER needs to be cancelled.

Was Sorkin fired or did he just quit? I thought it was the latter. I maintain that whatever the issue was, they should give him whatever he wants and lure him back.

Sometimes the writer IS the show (think Larry David and Seinfeld...).

re: ER needs to be cancelled.

hi pop,
yes I know sorkin wrote west wing,& that he left the show(he wasn't fired,& they'd have him back in a minute if he was willing). He also wrote a show called sports night that ran for 3 seasons.I know there's some west winger connection & was wondering if it was him(though now I'm thinking maybe it was thomas schlamme, director&producer).
And iflit-I agree completely-sorkin was the heart of the show-I think after his arrest troubles,he needed to take a break,& now he just wants to let west wing die a natural death-sorry rodney-didn't intend to hijack your thread

re: ER needs to be cancelled.

From what I understand, whatever the official line is, the unofficial truth is that his drug habit got him fired.

re: ER needs to be cancelled.

certainly possible-I just find it hard to believe-the man's incredibly talented, despite(many suggest because)of his habits-& without a doubt the show took an immediate dive after his departure.Do you know that he didn't write for er,or were you just throwing in the west wing reference?-I know there's some sort of connection-just can't remember what....thanks

re: ER needs to be cancelled.

I just double checked and he definitely hasn't written for ER, or done anything else for it. I don't watch West Wing though many of my friends do and none of them could deal with the first season after Sorkin left, though they all seem to think it's slowly improving.

re: ER needs to be cancelled.

must be schlamme I'm thinking of, then-thanks.I've seen every west wing,& your friends are right-while it'll never be what it was,it's still one of the best things on tv...thanks again...

re: ER needs to be cancelled.

Slowly improving. With the emphasis on s-l-o-w-l-y. I keep hanging in there because it's still better than most other stuff out there. I find that, for me, Kristin Chenoweth as the Press Secretary is going to be a hard sell. I may be wrong, but it strikes me as an attempt to create a quirky story line, rather than create a realistic situation.

re: ER needs to be cancelled.

I think the beginning of the end was when Carter went to Africa.

Speaking of this season, where is Chen? where is Lewis? where is Weaver?

Am I the only one who can't stand Pratt?

re: ER needs to be cancelled.

The Liotta episode just made me tear up.
But I have daddy issues... so.

Still, I enjoy the show. It's not as good as it was, but it's still better than most of the other crap on TV.

re: ER needs to be cancelled.

I watched this episode soley to see Ray Liotta. I thought he did a good job. Do any of you remember the show "Homicide, Life on the Street?" This ER reminded me of the Homicide episode where a man was pushed in front of a train. The man's torso was severed and all the detectives and paramedics knew when the train was moved, the man would die instantly. Man, I cried watching that show.

re: ER needs to be cancelled.

Pratt is a prat. Appropriately named, isn't he?

They really underuse their best actors - Laura Innes, Alex Kingston, Paul McCrane - in favor of Duck Lips and her plethora of beaus. So stupid.

re: ER needs to be cancelled.

Duck Lips?
