Empire, the series on Fox

Jussie is not straight.

Maybe Someone in Tree hit on Jussie on the set of the pilot and Jussie told him he was straight to spare his feelings?

He has the Human Rights Campaign logo permanently tattooed on his body.

Nope, never thought of hitting on Jussie while I worked on Empire-- that boy was in a WAY other league than me.

That said, I just listened to the posted interview with Ellen.
Does anyone else find the words coming out of his mouth the most ambiguous version of coming out ever uttered (if in fact that's what it was).

"There IS no closet. There's never been a closet.... that I'VE been in. I don't own a closet... I have a dresser... But I have a home, and that is my responsibility to protect that home. That's why I choose not to talk about my personal life. There is without a doubt NO closet that I've ever been in. And I just wanted to make that clear." and further on "So let's not read anything into it in the wrong way when I say I don't talk about my personal life."

Could that possibly be any clearer?

But wait, there's more: Jussie is black, gay, AND half-Jewish. I had a suspicion, as his name can be a derivative of the Ashkenaz name "Yossie," and IMDB confirms it's on his father's side.

And so effing what, anyhow; he's a fine actor, singer, and songwriter. He wrote the family's signature song on "Empire" ("You're So Beautiful) for the show.

Fyi, Jurnee Smollett-Bell was on "True Blood" the last couple of seasons, was in "Roll Bounce" 10 yrs ago as a kid, and some other teen WB-ish type show in between. Interesting TV family...
"There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had the practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." --Alice in Wonderland

Jurnee Smollett gave an impressive performance as "Eve" in Kasi Lemmons' 1997 film, "Eve's Bayou".

I liked Jussie's performance in the movie, "The Skinny" a few years ago.

I need to know if they didn't change Raven's characters name from Olivia. Because that's ALL kinds of funny to me.

Not sure how I feel about last night's episode. Definitely the weakest of the lot. Though that Malcolm, yummy!

Yes, Derek Luke is some fine piece of chocolate.

...and people wonder why my last 4 boyfriends have been African American.

Carlos, now don't you be getting any ideas about Derek Luke cause he's all mine!

And he's from Jersey City! My hometown! He does a lot of great work with the public schools here.

I'm sorry Dottie but at this point I cannot change my whorish ways...I can't guarantee that I won't go after your man.

I just want Derek to spend the entire season finale looking into the camera and licking his lips, L.L. style.
