Watch out, Jack Frost, I'm comin' for ya.
Here in Central NJ we’re supposed to get another 4-8” this coming Thursday with the possibility of ice and snow next week. I may cry the next time I see a snowflake. This winter has already cost me $1400+ thanks to a hitting a curb on a slippery road. A the car of coworker of mine was struck by someone speeding (while using her cellphone) on an icy road and another coworker hit a pothole on his way to work this morning.
The thought of more snow literally makes my brain hurt. More than anything I really wish spring would hurry up and get here.

Posted: 2/10/14 at 3:36pmI'm nuts. I love it. I love gearing up for the cold, I love heavy blankets, I love hot baths...all of it. If memory serves, we had a rather warm December, so...

Posted: 2/10/14 at 3:37pmBring it on! I love the cold and snow. I'll be bitching in August when there's 110% humidity.

Borstal and Erik, will you guys come shovel my driveway since you just love it so much?

Posted: 2/10/14 at 3:52pmPart of the reason I love it is because I live in an apartment building in a city where I can walk to work. Apartment super does the shoveling...so no shoveling for me!

Yeah, when you have no car or at least can walk everywhere or take public transportation and don't have to shovel anything, it isn't so bad. There were school delays around me today from yesterday, and that wasn't even that bad. But, we are running out of space to put snow when it does get plowed. And living in the sticks of NJ where the backroads are not plowed well usually is not fun.
I actually don't mind the heat so much. I would rather it be hot than cold.

Posted: 2/10/14 at 9:51pmI'm not 100% sure if my dad was joking or not today. But, he said he heard the snow could dump 16 inches here. That's on top of the 6 inches or so that are still around. I will forget about leaving my house for the rest of Winter, if that is true.

Posted: 2/10/14 at 9:56pmOne of my coworkers said that she'd heard Thursday was going to be worse than the 1990 storm. Which didn't mean anything to me since I was 10/11 and don't recall it. Also, I can't find anything regarding a major storm event in 1990.

I was going to mention the storm of 1996. She probably meant that one. There was nowhere to put the snow then. They were trucking it to the ocean and the Hudson. We've gotten off relatively easy the past couple years. It's winter. Snow happens.

Posted: 2/10/14 at 10:41pmI don't recall 1990 either. I would have only been 5 at the time. I also wasn't living in Sussex County yet. I sort of don't recall much before moving here. I do remember 1 storm in the 90's where the snow was up to my waist. That might have been the 1996 blizzard. I was 11 during that one.

It is winter. It is cold. So?
We have indoor toilets and central heat and don't have to go to pumps/wells to chip the ice off to get water. Toughen up a bit folks or in the coming dystopian world when it all falls apart yer gonna be toast! Or , rather, toasted!
Seriously- like my mom usta say if you're cold put on a sweater!.
(PS we dump snow into lakes all the time up here in the Great White North)

Weather.com is still saying 4-8" for Thursday. I ran out last night and got gas and some groceries. I figure the store is going to be a madhouse tonight and tomorrow. And, I was able to get salt for the first time in a week or so. Both Walmart and Lowe's have been sold out but the grocery store had some which was awesome.
I saw on the news that a lot of people in my area are still living without electricity. I hope those people have somewhere warm to go. One of my coworkers told me that her husband was sleeping at work while they didn't have power.
My older brother flew in from LA yesterday to do some work in NYC. He doesn't have a hat, gloves, scarf, or boots. My sister has decided that he's going to catch a cold which he'll bring to our house and give to us. Then I'll take it to work and give it to everyone there. So, according to my sister a lot of people will get sick because of my brother lol

Forget shovels and snow blowers. This baby takes care of business while you control it from inside the house!

According to this we're now in the 5"-12" area. Fun times.

Posted: 2/11/14 at 3:18pmA wovel won't even help me. We have a plow on a tractor, but my dad isn't sure that will get the driveway wide enough this time, if we do get a foot or more.

My office is open but our server is down. I got an alert from NWS on my phone saying if you decide to go out make sure you have food, blankets, and a cellphone.
Hope everyone stays safe, warm, and has plenty of "blackout" entertainment :)
