Posted: 2/13/14 at 12:57pmI'm in an area that could see 18 inches. I went out to remove some snow from the porch to help with weight. I sunk down to knees so far. But that was with what already us here.

Same here. I got all the laundry done last night and ran the dishwasher. I stocked up on peanut butter, crackers, and other nonperishables. Picked up some coloring books and a puzzle for my sister. If/When it goes I won't be happy about it but I'm ready.

I don't know what NYC's School Chancellor said, but they absolutely dropped the ball on this one. Having school in session today was inexcusable and their reasoning is indefensible.

C'mon guys sing along:
Snow
It won't be long before we'll all be there with snow
Snow
I want to wash my hands, my face and hair with snow
Snow
I long to clear a path and lift a spade of snow
Snow
Oh, to see a great big man entirely made of snow
Where it's snowing
All winter through
That's where I want to be
Snowball throwing
That's what I'll do
How I'm longing to ski
Through the snow-oh-oh-oh-oh
Those glist'ning houses that seem to be built of snow
Snow
Oh, to see a mountain covered with a quilt of snow
What is Christmas with no snow
No white Christmas with no snow
Snow
I'll soon be there with snow
I'll wash my hair with snow
And with a spade of snow
I'll build a man that's made of snow
I'd love to stay up with you but I recommend a little shuteye
Go to sleep
And dream
Of snow

Posted: 2/13/14 at 11:36pmI just want it to go away now. My area is still going to get socked throughout the night. And we might be getting 2-4 more inches on Saturday.

Posted: 2/14/14 at 12:46amI hear ya. I just looked outside and it's snowing again. According to the township website we're not due to be plowed until 8pm tonight. So, it looks like it might be another vacation day for me.

Posted: 2/14/14 at 11:15pmI found out about five people in my company showed up yesterday and did about 144,000lbs+ in sales yesterdays. I guess people really need their steel.

And it's snowing again. Not supposed to make much of an impact but I'm certainly tired of the stuff.
ETA: A friend of mine who lives in the Atlanta area was supposed to come up and visit next month. She has just canceled those plans because she has already lost several vacation days due to the snow storms.

I'm thinking we need to learn the entire, 100-word Intuit lexicon for "snow".
I came out to the Cape last week, and in the past 8 days we have had at least 20 varieties of precipitation. Last night was a "blizzard"--which Cape & Islands NPR tells me is distinguished from a "storm" by wind of a minimum velocity.
Gotta say, the results this morning are lovely.

This is an updated version of the map that Headband posted earlier. Luckily, we're out of the "heaviest" section which seems to be all we can ask for at this moment. Hope it stays that way.

Posted: 2/16/14 at 7:27pmI don't know how all of you do it. I live in North Florida and we have had a very cold Winter. Nothing, obviously compared to the north. We are finally going to be in the 70's all this week. I would gladly trade heat and humidity (our Springs and Summer) any day vs cold weather. I despise it.

Well, this is abnormal for us. We might get one - maybe two - large storms per year but nothing like this. The weather channel is already up to "R" with their names. The snowfall total for 2012-13 for Mercer County, NJ (where I live) was roughly 4.93" for the 2012-2013 season. The last number I saw was at 50+" so far with still more winter to go and a more snow forecast for this week. A lot of municipalities are running out of salt and budget money that had been set aside for snow removal. And those budgets are going to be stretched further because there are potholes pretty much everywhere now.
At this point, ArtMan, we don't even know how we do it :)
