Since there appears to longer be a search feature on the board, I didn't check to see if there was a thread buried somewhere. But who cares.
Will anyone else be attended a late showing of this tonight? Me and a couple of friends will be at the midnight showing and I could not be more excited for this movie. Especially with all the great word of mouth.
I've got a couple of busy weekends ahead and must see Jurassic Park first, but this is definitely on the list. I like how it's finding its own voice through gore instead of the camp of the original movies, while also keeping the "that tree is raping that girl!" part.
I really wish I could see it at 10. The wait has been killing me. But my horror movie partner-in-crime is working until 10:30, so I guess midnight will have to do. I just can't wait until tomorrow. Opening night is always the best time to see these movies anyway.
Well Evil Dead 2 was really just a remake of Evil Dead. Bruce Campbell has said that if there is a sequel he would like to see it somehow pick up after Army of Darkness.
Btw, this new Evil Dead has been getting good reviews from genre fans.
I can't. I'll be in tech...
Really!
If this is successful enough to get a sequel, will they break off and do their own story or go with the premise of Evil Dead 2? Evil Dead 2 is when it really got campy.
I don't remember where I read this, but there was an interview with Fede Alvarez where he mentioned Raimi's rebooting of his original franchise as well as a sequel to this remake and that the two visions would tie together in yet another sequel. I don't know if this will end up being true, but we shall see.

Kind of an odd request, but please report back on whether this is done all crazy-shaky-cam style. I'd love to see it, but if it's another Blair Witch, or even Les Mis, in terms of camera movement I'll have to pass until it makes its way to blu ray and I can watch it on a much smaller screen.

Well, it was a bit of a disappointment. Definitely wasn't the most terrifying film I've ever experienced - most of the scares are given away in the red band trailer. Even the gore, I felt, could have been pushed further. But as far as this brand of horror movie goes, it sure is a hell of a lot of fun. It's nightmarish, disgusting, twisted, relentless, and loud. The biggest factor missing, however, is a sense of humor. The movie ends up lacking the campiness to match the gore or the brutality to pack a punch. But I definitely got my money's worth and will for sure be seeing it again.
Oh, and the post-credits "scene" was needless and a total waste of time. Talk about pandering.
