FANNY, the 1954 Harold Rome musical which starred Ezio Pinza, William Tabbert and Florence Henderson.


It ran on Broadway for about a year and a half.

interestingly, the background music score for the FANNY film incorporated the HAROLD ROME song melodies from the musical.

TRUE, cturtle, just like the "film version" of ON YOUR TOES incorporated the lilting Rodgers & Hart tunes into the background music of THAT movie.

The film version of the musical FANNY adapted Harold Rome's musical score for it's soundtrack.

The film "Fanny" is based on the play with a book by S. N. Berman and Joshua Logan. All of which was based on the Marseilles Trilogy by Marcel Pagnol. This triloogy is comprised of 3 films: Marius, Fanny, Cesar.

Didn't the movie version of "Irma La Douce" do the same thing (cut out the songs but use the music from the show as background music)?

Yes, sort of. "Irma" on film was a combination of music from the stage musical and an original score by André Previn.
