My favorite Hitchcock movies are definitely "Vertigo" and "The Birds," although almost every one of his movies are genius. Wondering what your favorites are!

North by Northwest

Probably Rebecca, followed by Notorious, Rear Window, & Shadow of a Doubt

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

TCM aired the Dick Cavett interview with Mr. Hitchcock, the finest English-language film director of the 20th century.

I hope there will be more interviews from Mr. Cavett; for example he interviewed Joan Crawford around 1971 and it is not on DVD.

While I enjoy seeing these old interviews (I watched them when they were new), I never felt that Dick Cavett was really any good at his job. In fact, I always thought he was awful. Seeing the Hitchcock interview, again, reminded me just how awful Cavett was at his job. Hitchcock, on the other hand, was a dream interview. As were many of Cavett's guests. They, obviously, liked him, and liked to talk! He was very fortunate.

Love the Davis interview! Hepburn is a little dull.

Vertigo is definitely my favorite, but I do love Rear Window too, it's fun and cheeky.

And one that I think is awesome and underrated is The Rope, which no one ever mentions. Oh, and Dial M for Murder, that one's my Mom's favorite.

A day ago, I would have said either Strangers on a Train or Dial M for Murder. However, I just watched Marnie for the first time yesterday and I think that film is incredible. It was way ahead of it's time with it's subject matter, and Tippi Hedren and Sean Connery give amazing performances in it.

And, Bernard Herrmann's score is perfection.

Rebecca is definitely my favorite, even though it's not really "Hitchcockian." At least not as much as his later ones. I also have a huge fondness for North by Northwest. Cary Grant could not have been more perfect and the score! Oh, it's soooooo good!

Rear Window is definitely at the top, with The Birds and Psycho coming up close behind.

edited to add Marnie. I don't know why I keep forgetting this film but I've loved it for years. I never miss it when it's shown on TV.
