That was probably the worst Oscars I've ever seen. Every award went to LOTR, and the jokes just weren't funny.
If the Oscar is shared, then both people should be able to thank someone. There was this one guy who hogged all of the 90 seconds and more, so the other guy couldn't thank people. Also, the acceptance speeches for the smaller awards were too long.

The best part of the whole night was the Jack Black/Will Ferrel song. That was funny, because the speeches are boring.

I think I have to go see LOTR now- if it ties with Titanic and Ben Hur, then it must be good.
I have my books and my poetry to protect me...

Boring Boring Boring . After the Billy Crystal opening, it was all downhill. Sort of like watching a fight knowing the fix was in. Imagine the advertisers spending megabucks to advertise this turkey. This was a bigger gobbler than the turkey balloon in the Macy's Thanksgiving parade

LOTR deserved every award it won. Costumes, make-up, sounds, etc. were all incredibly done. If you've seen the movie, you know how real those creatures on the screen look. They don't look human in anyway, and there was no CI generated to make those closeups of those beasts. They are really sliming and really nasty. So were all the effects of the Elven people and the hobbits. They transformed those people!

I'm afraid I have to disagree.

While LotR deserved Picture, Director, and Visual Effects, it did NOT deserve the following awards

Best Cinematography (awarded to M&C): Girl w/ a Pearl Earring
Best Costumes: Girl with a Pearl Earring
Best Editing: Cold Mountain
Best Adapted Screenplay: American Splendor
Best Art/Set Direction: Girl with a Pearl Earring
Best Original Score: Big Fish or Cold Mountain

I don't think that anyone would disagree that Pearl Earring, Down with Love, and Kill Bill were the best-looking films of the year. Surprisingly, one one of the three films I just named were nominated. That's why the Academy sucks.

PS - Bill Murray should have won.

No politically outraged ranting?
No Debbie Allen choreography?
No Rob Lowe singing Proud Mary?
No Cher in her Black Widow outfit?
No tittyish gowns?

It was the emptiest Oscar night ever!!! Somebody get a coked up Courtney Love in there as a presenter NOW!

It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

I loove LOTR and while I'm very happy that it won all those awards I think the whole event was very predictable and boring! I def think LOTR deserved everything it won though!! It's an incredible movie!
