Somebody wonderful married me!
A week later than planned, due to unavoidable scheduling conflicts, but my partner (now husband!) and I were married today in our home state of New Jersey. I can't tell you how amazing it felt to be pronounced legally married spouses, and to do it in the place where we're both from, where our families live, and where we hope to move in the next few years. It also felt wonderful to do it on a day when another state (Hawaii) has taken the great step towards extending marriage rights to all.
We're taking a mini-moon this weekend here in Lambertville, complete with a short trip across to bridge to see Rocky Horror at Bucks County Playhouse. Since we're both in the middle of teaching right now, our official honeymoon has to wait until January. But I have to say that only a couple hours in, being married feels better than I ever imagined it could.

Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Thank you all so much for your kind wishes--I'm truly overwhelmed. It just confirms once again how sweet and generous I've always found the community on here to be.
And Joe, that was perfect. Although I don't know if I'll show it to my husband when he gets up from his nap. I don't want to give him any ideas.
