NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - Ford Motor Co. faced sharp criticism from gay and lesbian advocacy groups for agreeing to stop advertising in gay-themed publications in the face of a boycott by the conservative American Family Association, according to a report Tuesday.

Exactly! I could understand MAYBE if fundamentalists had a problem with gay ads in People magazine, but in gay mags????

I'm straight but this is ludicrous. Gay people have more discretionary income and alot more taste that to buy a Ford.

The new Ford commericials come on how committed they are to making society better, What a bunch of cowards.

Hate to break it to you, kiddies, but Ford hasn't pulled all of their advertising, just Landrover and Jaguar. Volvo will still be present.

Nor has Ford done anything like rescind benefits for same sex couples.

Some people would just like you to think their boycott won.

There's absolutely no reason to believe Ford gave in to anything other than their bottom line.

As I added above:

Ford has not done anything like rescind benefits for same sex couples.

Ford DID cave. The Volvo ads will just be the same ads they run everywhere else -- they'll no longer be targeted to the gay community, according to AmericaBlog. And they're not going to support gay events anymore. At least they were sweet enough not to rip away partner benefits from people who were already dependent on them.

Question -- isn't the AFA the same group that wants to boycott companies that DON'T cater their advertising to them by plastering "Merry Christmas" all over the place? Because even if you're not Christian, you shouldn't be offended by them advertising to Christians? Hypocrisy much?

Hate to break it to YOU but I heard this morning that the Advocate is considering telling FORD to take ALL of their ads out of the magazine. Volvo and all. And I think that's great!
