NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - Ford Motor Co. faced sharp criticism from gay and lesbian advocacy groups for agreeing to stop advertising in gay-themed publications in the face of a boycott by the conservative American Family Association, according to a report Tuesday.

Well, you know what this calls for, don't you?
A boycott, of course.
Rock, meet hard place.
So do I need to slap a gay pride bumber sticker on the family ford focus to make a statement?
Seriously, I wonder who has more money, the fags or the fundamentals?
Exactly! I could understand MAYBE if fundamentalists had a problem with gay ads in People magazine, but in gay mags????
Mind your own damn business!

And you know that's what it'll come down to in the end. So much bigotry moves in economic patterns.
I'm going to call this one "New York Homos beat Trailer Park Charismatics 5-3."

I'm straight but this is ludicrous. Gay people have more discretionary income and alot more taste that to buy a Ford.
The new Ford commericials come on how committed they are to making society better, What a bunch of cowards.

Hate to break it to you, kiddies, but Ford hasn't pulled all of their advertising, just Landrover and Jaguar. Volvo will still be present.
Nor has Ford done anything like rescind benefits for same sex couples.
Some people would just like you to think their boycott won.

And that changes the fact that Ford gave into bigotry? No.

There's absolutely no reason to believe Ford gave in to anything other than their bottom line.
As I added above:
Ford has not done anything like rescind benefits for same sex couples.

Some people would just like you to think their boycott won.

Ford DID cave. The Volvo ads will just be the same ads they run everywhere else -- they'll no longer be targeted to the gay community, according to AmericaBlog. And they're not going to support gay events anymore. At least they were sweet enough not to rip away partner benefits from people who were already dependent on them.
Question -- isn't the AFA the same group that wants to boycott companies that DON'T cater their advertising to them by plastering "Merry Christmas" all over the place? Because even if you're not Christian, you shouldn't be offended by them advertising to Christians? Hypocrisy much?
I'm just glad that when it came to my final choice of car last year, I ended up not buying the Escape.

My last car was a Honda CRV. My next car will NOT be a Ford.

Hate to break it to YOU but I heard this morning that the Advocate is considering telling FORD to take ALL of their ads out of the magazine. Volvo and all. And I think that's great!
What I'd like to know is what were the fundamentalists doing reading the gay mags anyway?

has it ever occurred to you that you drive support away from your causes with knee-jerk reactions like this?

Yeah - Just like riding in the front of the bus, interracial marriage and the right to vote right?
