I don't know if this is a sign of the apocalypse, or the dawning of a new age of national unity, but I think all of us - Republicans, Democrats, Conservatives, Liberals, Christians, Jews, Athiest, Gays, and Straights alike can all agree on one thing:

The Freepers think that Phelps is a liberal plant designed to make conservatives look bad. They love to remind everyone that he attended Clinton's inauguration and used to be a big-time Democratic contributer.

No, actually he was a big Gore supporter in 1992. I double-checked -- it wasn't Phelps himself, but some of his family members were invited to the inaugural ball that year. There are even some photos of him and Gore together. (They always hated Hillary)

However -- what the Freepers fail to point out, is that Phelps turned against Gore pretty quickly as soon as he realized he wasn't one of those fake Zell Miller, fag-hating southern Democrats. Hell -- even Phil Gramm used to be a Democrat.
