Donna's sister?
What pissed me off the most about them taking my fluids was that I was charged for an overweight bag, so I had to pay for it, then have it taken away...

I don't think so. she's a sometime member of our theater staff when she's not on the road. She did Drowsy in Ogonquit this past summer.
Yeah, I almost cried when they took my new products from me. Point is, when I came from the other direction, NY to FL, I also had oversized liquids but was allowed through. There doesn't seem to be one set of rules for all the airports.

Posted: 1/7/10 at 10:37pmI don't have anything to do with Ogunquit anymore.

Fear of flying

"In this last decade, nobody can tally the number of flights not taken, adventures not dared, countries not visited, because of the public’s anxieties about air travel."
That just makes me sad.

And that, Diva, is exactly my point. This fear is so unnecessary. TheatreFan (I think) quoted Franklin earlier about liberty and security, and he was dead-on. We can not, must not allow these terrorists to affect our lives so much.
Thanks for reading the article.

theatrefan didn't quote anyone. he paraphrased something. badly.
jag weas right. no one is forcing you to fly. drive, take a bus, take a train, take a boat. i'll fly naked if it means my plane is not blown out of the sky by some jihadi f*** with exploding bvds.

Unfortunately, it does not mean that.

I used a COMMON paraphrase.
Since you seem so adamant about this then here is the direct quote:
"Those who would give up Essential Liberty
to purchase a little Temporary Safety,
deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Same thing...

How THIS for Security?

Yes.
When they make the announcement, "Could we have Gayman to the cockpit" I was one of the gays running for the front of the plane, in full drag, swinging a bottle of beer.
What I wouldn't do for a few hundred bucks...

Posted: 1/9/10 at 9:54amWhat I'm wondering lately is -- honestly, I'm not kidding -- why terrorists are so intent on targeting airplanes when the nation's rail and public transit systems utilize no security measures at all. Is it a, "we can get though all your security measures!" challenge? Visibility? Associations with 9/11? I'm assuming the latter might be the case, but a subway or train attack could be just as damaging to the nation's psyche.

Once they have them in place, they'll use them for anything they damn well please. Here's a very recent NY Times article on these machines. BTW, if they are using the much-vaunted "g-string" feature, it will obviously negate any usefulness in discovering anything hidden in the pelvic region, which was the main point of the machine in the first place, and will probably not even show powder in any case unless there's LOTS of it.
Another poor usage of your tax dollars, your time, and pointless invasion of your privacy.
