feel free to drop her a line...
Oh my my my:
Opining on gay marriage, Parshall called it a "pretend family," arguing that "God himself" defined marriage as a union between one man and one woman, and that "everything else is a fraudulent misrepresentation." She then asserted that allowing a gay couple to adopt constituted "state-sanctioned child abuse because you've purposely taken away either a momma or a daddy, and mom and dad are both necessary in a child's life."
And her comments on Matthew Shepherd are even more jaw dropping.
wow.. i don't even know what to say.
I read it. She's pretty much television-sanctioned physical abuse herself if you find yourself forced to pay attention to any newscast she's on.
does that article make mention of how she once put her fingers in her ears and went, "la la la! I can't hear you?" when she was losing an argument once?
What a sad sack.
Did she really do that?
The masochist in me used to catch a bit of her radio show when I was in Houston. I don't know if it airs around here or not. But I was really laughing when she was raving about "Lord of the Rings," including praise for Ian McKellen. Heh. She probably didn't even know.
I'd love to hear her opinions on single parent households and try to use that same argument.
She was probably in the same debate class as Di2.
Heh. It's good to have you back lildogs
Thanks--just wish I hadn't missed The Di-na Syndrome.

Someone should make a drinking game for Parshall's program. Every time she say a racist comment, one shot. Every homophobic comment, one shot. Every religious elitist comment, one shot.
You'd be drunk in about 12 seconds. She's worse than Alan Keyes. Only, she doesn't make as much sense and she smiles more.
What about all the single parents out there? They have only a mom or dad. And what about families that have a mom and a dad but they abuse each other?
Oh, and don't you just LOVE the argument "It will make them gay"? Bull. If being raised by a gay couple makes you gay, we wouldn't have gay people coming from straight homes, would we? People are so ignorant.
An entertaining clip:
Randi Rhodes goes up against Janet
I'd like to know what happened to separation of church and state. Someone else's religious beliefs shouldn't influence whether or not you can get married to someone of the same sex or even have an abortion.

OK, so I guess, in her mind, it would be better to have no family for a child than a gay one. "Sorry, Jimmy, these people really wanted to take you home, but they're gay, so you can stay here in the orphanage [or wherever] waiting for exactly the right people to come along. As long as they're white, straight, and wealthy, who cares what other qualities they may have that could be drawbacks?"
And also, where does this person stand on single parent homes where there is only a mother or father present, whether they're straight or not? Should we start taking children away from people because this is abuse as well?
Her statement that gay adoption is "state-sanctioned child abuse because you've purposely taken away either a momma or a daddy" doesn't even make any sense. According to the actual LAW, when a child is being abused by a parent, the child is removed from the home BY THE STATE. So what the f*** is she talking about? She's obviously just an idiot, and no one should take anything she says seriously.
Just for the record, the BEST parent I know--the person who I, as a parent myself, try to emulate--is GAY. (And I have to be honest with myself--and apparently a lot of other people I don't even know otherwise I wouldn't be posting this--I will NEVER be as a good a parent as my friend.)

Yes, of course it'll make them gay. Because everyone knows gay kids only come from gay parents. Wait...
I can see some sense in an argument that a child needs two parents- I wouldn't agree with it, but I could see where it came from. Raising a child (especially a young one) and making enough money to support that child simultaneously is damn hard to do, and life's just easier when you can spread the work around.
But when you say that one parent has to be a man, and the other a woman, well, you're just getting into sexist territory, and I'm not listening to you anymore. The only thing that makes men and women different when it comes to raising children is that women can breast feed. End of story. So whether it's two men or two women, a child in a gay household has two supportive parents, which is more than a lot of kids in what this dingbat would consider a better living situation have.
Not to mention the fact that adoptive parents are usually in the position to provide a better home- and be more fit parents- than so many biological parents. Adoptive parents have to wait years and jump through hoops to be able to have the priviledge of having children, while Cletus can just knock up Bradine in the back of a pick-up on the way to the homecoming dance and no one thinks twice to question their abilities to parent.
Well, she's living proof that homes with one male and one female parent raise wonderful children. Teaching children to hate like she does certainly is not an abuse of any kind.
And let's not forget that if this homosexualizing of America is allowed to continue, we'll all be queer in less than fifty years!
I love that we've managed to weave Brandine references in two different threads today.
OS, you're my best friend for the day.
Yay!
