funny channing mentioned the center in the West Village. i used to volunteer there and at GMHC when i lived in NYC. i made alot of friends. it's definitely an alternative to the bars/clubs.
and do yourself a favor don't go to big cup expecting to meet anyone, those queens are there to pose and act like their sh!t don't stink.

One route you may NOT want to go is the whole group therapy/support group thing. I did one once, thinking I could meet some interesting folk...but it turns out they were just crazy.
And, of course, I developed a crush on the group leader. You could imagine my suprise when I discovered he was actually a post-op female to male transexual. WHO DATED WOMEN.
I was sh*t outta luck.

My bf and I spent six weeks breaking up/making plans to work things out/crying etc. He finally made a dramatic break by saying he was in a wonderful new relationship. I was devastated and went online that night and hooked up with a smooth-skinned guy. Well, not only was it his wonderful new bf,it was also our local East Village drag queen (who knew he was so cute as a boy?) To this day, i'm too emotional to see his act.
