What addison said.
Also, Buono has not been able to get the Corzine stink off of her. She's been a pretty awkward foe to Christie who is touting in his ads two things...he was the hero of Sandy, and Buono is Corzine. People are still angry at Corzine.

Thanks, addison.

I think I would be, too. Can't blame them.

Liza's Headband, Christie has painted Buono as a total nutjob with no relevant experience and no plan for NJ. The only ad I've seen from her on TV basically says "Only one candidate is running for governor. Chris Christie's running for president." Nothing about her plans or why she should be governor.
So you have Christie's overwhelming presence on TV with at least some fake political talk and Buono's minimal presence that is talking all about Christie.
The other element is that NJ is a very divided state and the southern half plus some of the ridiculously wealthy in Bergen county are staunch Republicans and turn up every election. If everyone voted, we'd be a straight blue state; we don't, so people like Christie get in sometimes.

Man, I am English, so cannot vote unfortunately, but if I was, it would be Bill de Blasio, anyone that has a former lesbian wife and make her cross over to the other sidewalk has my vote (if only).
I look forward to catching up on CNN, when I am in New York City on Friday.

McAuliffe may not be the best candidate, but at least in Virginia, the governor is term-limited at one consecutive term. Perhaps four years from now someone better will come along, but until then, he's a much better option that The Cooch and his frightening preacher-man running mate.
Christie is a terrible politician, but he's a great public figure. That's why he's being re-elected. His work post-Sandy wasn't--isn't--remarkable, but the way his PR machine spun it was. His economic policies are terrible, and his social agenda is more in line with the Tea Party than any moderate wing of the Republican party. But people will vote for him because they mistake brash frankness for leadership. Buono is a much better candidate than people give her credit for, on paper at least, but she ran a weak campaign. Christie is like a cartoon character, or some warmed-up stereotype you'd find in a novel about Jersey.

"In choosing between a crook and a crackpot, I'd hold my nose and vote the party--in my case Democratic--line."
A tough philosophy to live by if you consider yourself a Centrist, as I do. That leaves me with the Independent option and they are usually very weak candidates. That is my only point.
Cheers to all of those who did vote today and for those who served this country to grant us that freedom. While I am not exercising it, I support and acknowledge their sacrifice in many other ways including charitable giving and volunteer work. I realize it is a position many will disagree with.

Posted: 11/5/13 at 10:29pmWhat happened to the last few posts in this thread? I know Addy posted something about the race in Virginia and by no means was it controversial!

I also voted. I ended up doing a last minute absentee ballot on Monday because something suddenly came up for Tuesday and I was not sure if I would get around to voting as I had to be in NYC.
And in NJ for Republican heavy places, Northwest NJ is. Sussex, where I live, rarely gets any Democrats running for anything. So, I'm always voting practically alone up here.
