Hey guys,
So, I thought there would be a direct way to get to Philly on the NJ Transit from Penn Station but while looking at the NJ Transit map, it doesn't look like there is.
If can tell me how to get to Philly from Trenton or if there IS a direct line to get to philly from nyc by, that'd be great! thank you!

The only direct trains from NYC to Philly are on Amtrak.
You can take NJ Transit from NYC to Trenton and then take the R7 on SEPTA (the PA transit system) to Philly.

I travel to Philly regularly, and tho Amtrack is a bit faster it is SO much more expensive.
NJ Transit is 18 dollars each way...Amtrack is 60-80. If you are going back and forth in one day, Amtrack could be worth it.
If you are staying in the city, then NJ transit is about 2 hours...the NJ transit train meets the SEPTA R7 train, so you just switch...pretty easy.

18 dollars each way...it's in my post.
Both SEPTA and NJ Transit have websites with schedules and fare info.

Posted: 6/14/06 at 10:24amThe R7 fare from Trenton to Philly is $7.00 each way peak and off hours.

Posted: 6/14/06 at 10:27amNJ Transit will sell you full tickets at Penn Station. That is much easier because you dont have to worry about getting a ticket in Trenton. I always buy two off peak excursions, because I dont know exactly when I will return, and they charge slightly more for peak hours.

I'm a philly boy :)
Tho that commercial for the "Sleep over in Philly" campaign during the Tonys made me pretty embarrased by this fact.

Well, I loved his vocal! Whatta talent!
heh...
I didnt even get the possiblity of tying it in with Pajama Game. That would've been pretty smart. Now I'm wondering if that was what they were going for...but it's been their (stupid) campaign for awhile now.
Philly is a great city, but they have no clue how to get people to go there.

Posted: 6/14/06 at 10:49amThat was the intent. The guy in the commercials for the past two years was a pudgy bald goateed guy with a teddy bear. The campaign has been HUGELY successful, by the way.

I have no idea about the bus...I believe I never bothered due to the time.
You should check out the NJ transit website, Sunday.

From Trenton to Penn Station and back?
All the times I've gone it's been like 19.25$ total (round trip).

No, SweetQ...I meant the full fare to Philly. NJ Transit lets you buy the SEPTA ticket thru them (Trenton to Philly) for convenience and to save time.
I pay 17.50 to go from NYC to Trenton and then to Philly. One way. That includes the SEPTA fare.
A round trip ticket might be a bit less, but as I said, I am not ever sure when I will be returning, so I cant get a round trip ticket.

Posted: 6/14/06 at 12:05pmI was born and raised in Philadelphia, too! Haven't lived there for about 25 years, though. It still has the best food in the entire world (including New York)!

Septa IS bus and train. The R7 train goes from Trenton to Philly. It will take an hour or so. There is no bus service from Trenton to Philly via Septa.
