How does everyone here feel about it? I like it a lot, and for some films prefer it over going with people.

It is according to what type of movie I am going see. I do enjoy seeing a movie that I know I want to put 100% concentration on by myself, but a more fluff movie I would rather see with someone else so we can laugh together and joke about it together.

It depends. If it's a packed theater, then I feel a little awkward and uncomfortable, but if it's a small house then I think I prefer it.

It also depends on the film. Ridiculously stupid comedies, or big action/adventure flicks are better with company. But something emotional or that requires more thought is more easily digested when I'm not being disturbed by the person next to me, or in some cases, worrying if they're enjoying the film or not.

As far as I can remember, I've only gone to the movies by myself once. I saw THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM. I thought it'd be cool to go to this real estate expo with Ivan, but it ended up being really boring. After the movie, I found out that Mario Lopez dropped by, and Ivan met him. Ivan said he was in his work out gear (running shorts, tank top) and looked HOT. Ten times better in person.

Mario hosted that night's award ceremony and went to get a look around.

Anyway, seeing the movie by myself was fun, but I don't know if I'd do it again.

I saw Passion of the Christ alone. It was definitely the best choice because I could completely concentrate on it and I felt pulled into it because no one was there for commentary.

I actually went to the movies by myself for the first time last Thursday to see "I'm Not There." Fitting title to describe an audience of me and 4 others, I loved the emptiness and being able to see it on such a large screen with that privacy. I'm sure I'll be doing it again when the time comes.

I prefer it. First of all, I'll only go to see a film in a theater early in the day. Second of all, I like to try to get immersed in the film and being alone makes it easier.

I love going to the movies alone. When I tell my friends they feel bad but I actually prefer it. You don't have to listen to someone give their opinion and you can enjoy the movie alone that you wanted to see.

Yeah, and this way if you have friends who have mannerisms in movies that you don't like, it doesn't become a problem and you never get annoyed at them.

I go to the movies alone all the time because no one I know would go as often as I do (generally twice a week). Also, very few people I know would like the type of movies I like (I prefer art house-independent movies over the big Hollywood blockbusters).

I agree about what kind of movie it is. I greatly enjoyed both "National Treasure 2" and "Juno" this weekend, but I saw one with a friend and the second alone. I definitely preferred that.

Juno was fantastic. I saw it today and agree that it was better viewed alone.

Definitely, it became an instant favorite. Although now that I saw it alone I can't wait to make my friends watch it once it's on DVD.

Definitely. Depending on the movie/company I am either distracted by the person/people I am with or am concerned with what they're thinking. There are some friends that I love but cannot see movies with them. I enjoy going by myself on certain occasions, so I don't have to wait for others or depend upon them. But I agree, comedies/chick flicks are more fun with a buddy or group.

I go to the movies a lot, and it's simply impossible for me to coordinate my moviegoing schedule so that I would have an escort for every screening I attend. (The same goes for my theatregoing schedule) Plus, I normally like to go to movies at times that most of my friends would deem undesirable, like early matinees or late shows. So, I usually end up going solo at least half the time, and I don't mind it. I just bring a book to read while I'm waiting for the movie to start.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

95% of time I go by myself. A) because I can't find anyone to go with and b)I'm done with work at 4:30 and i can catch a lot of films at BAM or downtown Brooklyn with very few people which I like.

I just curl up in my fetal ball nd immerse myself in the film
Saw "The Savages" when we got out at 1PM today. Juno on Saturday and will see something tomorrow as well.

It doesn't really bother me either way. Usually if I really want to see something and people can't get their butts in gear to go see it, I just head out on my own to see it.

I love going to the movies by myself. Though sometimes the experience of sharing a movie with other people, talk about the movie afterwards, etc is priceless. For example, I saw ENCHANTED with my partner and that experience can't be beat, it was such a romantic movie I would have hated to be by myself while watching it.
I've seen SWEENEY twice by myself and that's just fine. Though I wanna go see it with someone eventually to discuss it afterwards... you know with someone who isn't a poster here.

I pretty much prefer going to the movies alone. After having a few bad experiences with some other friends who I went with (one girl had this laugh that I could not get over, and the other just needs to mature. She talks on the phone, chews and talks loudly so that everyone can hear her.)

I do it all the time. I'd rather be alone.

Besides, what are you going to do with your date/friend/aprtner? Chat him up during the film?

LOVE going to the movies alone. Film, to me, is such a personal thing.. it is like daydreaming.. you can really disappear and fall into yourself.

I like that.

Theatre, however, is more of a communal experience. I hate going to the theatre alone. I've done it..but for the most part I like to share the live actor/audience experience with someone.
