Doesn't really surprise me that "Dark Knight" was overlooked at The Globes. Sure it was a box-office smash and a critical favorite, but, just not their cup of tea.
Come Oscar time, I'm sure Heath will be nominated as will it's special effects, sound, art direction, etc. Will it get a Best Picture nomination........highly unlikely, IMO. "Popcorn" movies don't ever seen to shake, rattle or roll the Academy. But, time will tell.
Besty, I definitely agree with you about Hirsch. He just commanded the screen from his first appearance on and just really grew up with the role and made the audience care about his journey.
Like I said earlier, I thought Brolin and Franco both did a fantastic job, I just wouldn't consider it an outrage if they didn't earn nods. Yet, if they did--and if Brolin won--I wouldn't consider their awards/nods undeserved either. Just a matter of preference.
Allison Pill was fabulous in every way possible, I can't rave enough about her performance. I hated Diego Luna but I think that means he did a great job with his role, I agree his character was just so pathetic and wince-inducing in every way (especially after seeing him as a sort of replacement for Scotty).
I hope they include Denis O'Hara in the SAG ensemble, he was terrific.
In other words, MILK is one of the (if not THE) best acted film of the year.
Big movies DO win: Titanic, Return of the King, Forest Gump, Chicago, Gladiator - to name a few in the past two decades that were hits.
Chicago was a big film?
Chicago grossed $180 million in the U.S. alone. Yes, it was a big film.
