I...need...TIVO.
Well, that was a wonderful interview (what I was able to hear of it) but it left me feeling sadder than ever. I've been telling myself all along that the odds of Greg's coming back to the east coast to do another show were slim to none. Now I believe it more than ever. The reasons for it are those same reasons that make us all love him so much. It just hurts to know that we very likely will never see him perform here again. (sigh)
(I was all set up to record this and two minutes after it started, I lost internet connection. When I got back on, I wasn't able to get the sound back on the XM Radio page. I had to shut it all down and reboot. So I missed a chunk of the interview. Did anyone record it?)
I missed it too! What did he say? I know that he is very anxious to be back in LA but I too was hoping that he would come back to do another show in a few years. Did he really say he would never come back? How sad!
He said that once the kids started school he wouldn't pull them out and he wouldn't leave them and come here on his own. That pretty much sums it up.
Well friends, there's only one solution: WE RELOCATE.
I missed the interview as well.
even though I'm going to miss him so much, I agree. I was pulled out of 2nd grade (in the middle of the year) when I lived in NJ and was dragged to England by my parents. I was pissed off at them for a good 4 years. Although now I realize that it was for the better and I don't hate them, it was still tough for me. and in England, I moved twice. from a town next to Windsor, where I was in an all girls school (which i hated and they were all bitches) to being homeschooled by my mom on the white cliffs of dover. and man, that was not good for my relationship with my mom.
anyway, he has the right idea.

I missed the interview...well, because I have dial-up!
Tis sad, of course, that we won't get to have Greg in NYC forever, but no one can fault his reason to stay put in LA. He's one heck of a family man. I respect him, and wish the Jbara's nothing but the best!!
It makes me sad, also, to think of Greg leaving, but it is so endearing to know how human he is and how much he loves his family.
To cheer up, think of how great it will be when he does something wonderful in CA and we all plan a field trip to see him...he'll be so happy (and so will we!)
I'm afraid that will never happen for me. (At least not in this life.)
Mamie, you never know. You just never know. Xooo Penny
Oh Barb - that would be GREAT! Thank you so much. My fingers and toes are crossed too!

Well Mamie looks like you can uncross 'em now ... just posted the news on Greg's site after hearing back from NBC Universal:
"True Love" - Greg's CONVICTION episode is airing in a special time slot on Monday April 10th at 10 PM Eastern on NBC.
They weren't sure past that, said to check back. But the 10th is confirmed.
Malki, definitely time to reprogram the tivo! :)
Barb,
That is great for so many reasons!
I finally think I actually know how to program the TiVo.
It's on a Monday not a Friday night, so I can actually watch it while it tapes.
It is on at 10 so it doesn't interfere with the taping of 24. (Of course as far as I am concerned Greg takes precedence over 24, but I am not sure if my husband and son would agree)
Thanks for checking ot out for us!

:) Malki ... glad it works out better for you too.
Al and I are big 24 fans, so I hear you on that. We also like to watch Medium, which, it sounds like, Conviction is going to preempt next week ... but for me, Greg takes precedence over either show. :)
I agree completely, Malki. And for a whole lot of different reasons. This is really terrific news.
Barb, I also love Medium. Harvey and Sruli love 24. I have just started watching it, but would rather watch Greg anyday. Even if he were reading the phone book.
Mamie, I am happy that you will get to see it now too!
So I'm bringing the thread back to food again. :p
I want to make Greg spider cookies [basically melted chocolate and peanut butter chips and rice krispies rolled into little balls) because they don't require refrigeration. They will have to be on a plane for 2 hours.
Yes? No?
Sounds Yummy! and I am sure Greg will love them. I actually just found 2 more peanut butter recipes I want to try out on Greg. One is a peanut butter cookie and one is a penut butter and chocolate chip brownie.
I think we should have peanut butter recipe contest. Greg can be the judge of his favorite pranut butter treat!
Can one get sick of peanut butter and chocolate?
Oh - you guys are going to give Greg diabetes! [That's a touch of jealousy from someone who's allergic to chocolate.... ]
I just saw Greg's episode of "Malcolm in the Middle". I think I have him figured out now. He wants to BE the character he played in that show! That's the real reason he's going home in July.
Mamie, now I am jealous! I tried to TiVO it and it taped the wrong thing (apparently we don't really have the channel it was on- duh!) but I am going to tape it at 1 AM on a channel I know I have. And on top of the, I have bronchitis! Yuck!
No more treats for Mr. Jbara. I promise.
"No more treats for Mr. Jbara. I promise."
LOL - don't you dare tell him I said no more treats!!!
I'm so sorry about your bronchitis. I'll tell you a real good home remedy. You take a glass and put a shot of whisky into it and warm it gently for just a minute in the microwave*. Then add a spoon of honey and a sweeze of lemon. Drink it slowly.
*Don't let it get hot or you might evaporate the alcohol in the whisky. Frankly, the only ingredient in this remedy that actually does anything is the alcohol, so you don't want it to evaporate. Other than that, it won't do a thing for your bronchitis, but it will make you feel a lot better!
Sould I bring him some diet pop and cottage cheese then?
Mamie, thanks for the remedy. If only I liked whiskey. Do you think a Fuzzy Navel (peach vodka and orange juice) would work? That I like! Or a margarita but I don't have the ingredients for that one.
Meghan, you bring him your cookies! He and I had a little email conversation and I threatened not to bring him any more treats.
Oooh I must email him soon. Maybe now. Just to say I'll have something for him. I'm goingto have something for Joanna too. I hope that'll be okay & I can find a way to get it to her.
Ooh I think you guys need to know about the man playing Juan Peron in the local production of "Evita" reminds me SO MUCH of Greg! I mean I haven't met Greg yet but still! He is tall and dashing with that light hair and bright blue eyes...so charming and kind and his name is George! George and Greg. He forgot his card that unlocks the door for the theatre so I had to show him how to get to his rehearsal through the theatre school. I imagine Greg and him would get along great!
