This is my absolute favourite show (I'm a busy second year student so this is the only thing I get to watch) and it was so good. To be honest, it took me forever to figure out it was her lol

Lovin' it.

This is what the writers have to say about Meredith and George. Makes ALOT of sense:
source: http://www.greyswriters.com/

"And then the fantasy died.

Because Thatcher didn’t throw open his arms. He didn’t apologize. He didn’t invite her in. He didn’t have the right words, he didn’t have the right anything. And to Meredith, that had to feel like a death.

And then she went to a bar and drank.

And then Mark made her hope again, if only briefly, that she could have the man she loves back.

And then she went home and stared out her window in a state that I can only imagine was tremendous pain and loss and grief.

And then George came in. And poor George DID NOT KNOW ANY OF THIS. He was not there to take advantage of her when she was in a vulnerable state. All he knew was that he had spent the entire day working up his courage to finally, finally make her hear him.
And, unwittingly, he said the world’s most perfect things.

He said he would never leave her (like her father did). He said he would never hurt her (like Derek did). He said he would never stop loving her."

And then when he GETS with Meredith, she's an emotional f*ckwit! No one deserves him!

(I was LOLing at that crying-in-bed scene. And wanted to slap Meredith too. "You're almost done, right?")

A longshot, but did anyone get the quote when Cristina and George were talking and she said something along the lines of, stop accepting crap happening to you?

Their little scene was downright awkward to watch...and that was before Meredith got obnoxious...sometimes she just needs a good slap in the face.

And ha to Addison...that was hilarious

No one deserves George! I love him!

Amber, I totally remember that quote and now I can't remember it! I wanted to, also.

Gah "Your almost done right?" was just the most awkward line ever written. I cringed, I laughed, and I almost kicked my dog (yeah I get a little into this show).

Like Christina said, Meredith knew that George was in love with her from day one. Meredith felt guilty because she knew she could have stopped it. She had control over herself. It wasn't as if she was completely stoned. I didn't side with Alex when he had an innappropriate sexual fling, I certainly have yet to side with Addison, and I, thus, do not side with Meredith.

That quote is bugging me now. "If you don't want crap to keep happening to you stop accepting crap and demand something better!". I feel that that's as close as I'm going to get to the actual quote.

Boo to the Oscars. No Grey's Anatomy will really put a damper on next week.

And how great was Izzy in calming giving Mer the verbal smackdown?

This episode made me sick to my stomach and I desperately want to cry... and tell the boy I'm in love with that I'm in love with him...
I have absolutely no idea why I feel any of this... does not correlate whatsoever.

Tiff, when Izzy told Meredith she would be on George's side I let out a big "Hells Yes!". Great moment in the episode. Although, that really draws a line in the sand as far as character relationship is concerned.

One of the five interns are leaving... Pompeo said in an interview... who do you think it will be?
They can't get rid of Meridith (because she's already said they're not) and I love George and Christina too much... but Izzie and Alex too... ahhhh... what are we fans to do?

I will also be ridiculously sad next week without an episode.

One of the interns is leaving the intern program, but not the show. It was a misprint in a TV Guide article.

even though I only saw one episode, if I was going to say one person was going to leave, I would say alex.

The ep had good parts...

I must say that I, and the 10 or so other people I was watching with, cannot stand Sara Ramirez's character. I hope she stays very minimal.

I am tired of always defending Meredith. George is not some sad 12 yr old boy...he's an adult. It is terrible what happened but this can't be all blamed on Meredith.
She is a great character because she is real and flawed. I think if any of us lived her life, we wouldn't be terribly liked by the tv audience either.

The creator wrote this about her after the Superbowl Pt 1 & 2:

"The last thing I want to say about this episode has to do with Meredith. Because all she really wants is some kind of reason to live. I’ve heard a lot of talk about Meredith being whiny but the truth is, she’s got a mom with Alzheimer’s, no other family to speak of, and the man she loves is married. She’s pretty freaking lonely, people. She’s got a right to get her whine on. So, when she falters, when she doesn’t want to pull her hand out of Mr. Carlson, it’s partly because she’s got nothing to hang on to. As she says in the first episode, she needs a reason to go on, she needs some hope. Which is why she has to picture Derek to get through it. And at the end, when he shows up at her house (and he shows up just to see for himself that she is alive), she has to ask. She has to ask him about their last kiss because if she’s ever going to get out of that bed again and keep going, she needs a reason. She needs to know there’s someone out there for her. She needs some hope."

This is why I like her. If you've ever experienced something like Meredith's problems, you understand how it seems like everything you do is wrong and all you want is a little stability and sanity.

I'm thinking George might leave the intern program. I don't know if he can take working there anymore and seeing Meredith every day. Either him or Alex. Like Lavinia said, no one is leaving the show.

ETA: I'm sick of defending Meredith, too, but I really like her. She's flawed, but that's true to reality and that's what makes her so interesting. Updated On: 2/26/06 at 11:40 PM

I don't like Meredith. Not because I think she's whiny, and not because of blah blah blah flaw in her. I just don't like when people let vulnerability run their life. That's the Christina in me talking I know, but it's how I feel.

Why do I like George? The difference between George and Meredith is innocence and that's the bottom line. You could see it in the sex scene. You know it because of all of the things Meredith has had to go through. I'll side with vulnerability because of innocence but not with vulnerability.

That's just because I'm a terrible person though.

Also, just because I don't care for Meredith doesn't mean that I don't love her being on the show. Her character has so much depth and conflict and wisdom and drive that I love to watch her. I love disagreeing with her, and I love even more when she does something I fully support (end of the superbowl episode anyone). I just imagine that if I ever met her I would not want to be her friend.

As for who will leave the program, it's anyone's guess. Christina could be pushed out of it and into something better by Burke. George could go because of the Meredith issue. Meredith could leave, because she probably has the most chance of still having an integral part in the show without having to be an intern. If Alex wasn't an intern for example, how would we see him on the show still?

I thought they were going to have Alex leave the intern program, because he seemed really interested in plastic surgery last week. But, I guess that Mark isn't coming back anytime soon, so maybe Alex will stay.

"I just don't like when people let vulnerability run their life. That's the Christina in me talking I know, but it's how I feel."

Well, I understand that. But I think we see it affecting her life more because we hear about it in the voiceovers. If we were observing from within the hospital she wouldn't be the same...probably normal.

The thing is, when a lot of crap happens to you, it does affect every aspect of your life. It takes time to overcome it. I think if we had the insight of a voiceover from all our friends we would learn A LOT about one another.

Oh she's not? Shock and dismay. Well, basically my thing is that anyone who lives with another intern will still manage to be on the show if they leave the program. So then it's fair game between Izzy, Christina, and George. I will unfortunately eat my words when Alex leaves. LOL.

We could still see whoever if he/she switched programs. The other depts interact with surgical frequently.

Plus, if say, for example George did go to peds, we would see him with his cases each week and he would still pass the others in the hall, hang out, and discuss cases with them. Not a huge change.
