Well someone mentioned that she would be able to leave without it messing up the show...
I was just clearing that up...
Annoyance and... fill in another word of your choosing.
Another great episode.
But did anyone notice in the preview for the next ep that George cut his hair?! I guess he did grow it out for Meredith, but I really liked it long. (It would also explain why he wore a cap on Martha a couple of weeks back.)
I loved that George got to narrate his episode. Although it did remind of Peter Griffin narrating his life out loud in Family Guy...
I walked into the kitchen and sat down at the table. I looked with a grimace at the questionable meal Lois had placed in front of me. Of course I'd never tell her how disgusted I was with her cooking, but somehow I think she knew. Lois had always been full of energy and life, but lately I had begun to grow more aware of her aging. The bright, exuberant eyes that I had fallen in love with were now beginning to grow dull and listless with the long fatigue of a weary life.
(Lois knocks Peter out.)
I woke several hours later in a daze.
Millie you're right about everything you said. I find that you're a much more understanding and forgiving person than I am.
I completely understand what drives Meredith to do what she does. Her reasons are completely justifiable. I imagine that if we did get to see her from the outside I would have a completely different opinion of her. I would probably like her if this wasn't her story.
However, like you said if we had the insight of all of our friends we would probably learn a lot about one another. Again here's the Christina in me talking: I probably wouldn't like my friends much either if I knew them that well. This is a huge personality flaw of mine. I would rather see a comfortable facade in most people than what bubbles beneath the surface.
For example what Meredith is going through on the show with her mother. To watch the deterioration of your parent over time has got to be one of the most horrible things to see. To have the comfortable facade of their strength and foundation collapse before your eyes must be a horrible reality. It's the sort of reality that I would never want to face.
Hmmm...I think I'm talking myself into a revelation. I don't like Meredith because she's exactly what I don't want to be.
"Hmmm...I think I'm talking myself into a revelation. I don't like Meredith because she's exactly what I don't want to be."
And I like her and care for her because I see her as what I could have become and what I am trying not to become.
See, this show is awesome! It's entertainment and therapy all in one hour!
"See, this show is awesome! It's entertainment and therapy all in one hour!"
It's just that! And free too.
Ain't that the truth!
The preview for the next episode looks like it's gonna be really good. Can't wait to see what happens between Meredith and George....
Okay...my quote roundup:
My Quote of the Night goes to....(drumroll)...
Bailey: You got Poison Oak where nobody wants Poison Oak!
Runner Up:
Alex: Because when your life is sucking, you get drunk and sleep with inappropriate men. It’s your thing. I think it’s charming
And the rest of the gang:
Meredith: How do you know I did something? How do you know George didn’t do something?
Alex: 'Cause Bambi looks pissed and you look guilty.
Christina: Stop pouting!
George: I'm not pouting.
Christina: Oh please, I don’t even have to look at you, I can feel you pouting.
Christina: I'm not being inappropriate, he's acting like she skinned his puppy.
Burke: That’s not nice.
Christina: I'm not a nice person!
Derek: So baby trumps husband?
Bailey: Yes. Baby trumps husband.
Alex: I just called it "Doing McDreamy", didn't I?
George: You didn’t tell them?
Meredith: No .
George: DAMMIT [proceeds to fall down the steps]
Christina: He's the weaker kid. I mean even I don’t beat up on the weaker kid, its cheap.
Christina: He's been in love with you since day one, there's now way you didn’t know that… We all do terrible things.
Meredith: Thanks.
Christina: No problem.
Derek: We could, might be fun. I could be your friend Meredith
Meredith: No, we cant be friends.
Christina: If you want crappy things to stop happening to you, then stop accepting them and demand more!
Denny: I like it when you say "fibrillation".
George: I'm sorry...if I made you feel anything like I'm feeling right now. I'm sorry
Olivia: That’s...nice to hear
Meredith: I didn’t know I didn’t want to. You were there and you were saying all these perfect things and I was sad. And I thought maybe, maybe I've been overlooking what’s in front of me, maybe if I just gave you a chance, because you’re George and you’re so great. I didn’t know I didn’t want to till I didn’t want to.
Izzie: Are you kidding? Do you know how hard I’ve had to work to get a cute boy in bed before?
Denny: You think I'm cute?
Izzie: Shut up and drink your juice.
Burke: You’re a good person
Christina: I am not!
Burke: Good night.
Christina: Good night.
George: Good night.
That's all for this week folks.

Definitely my fave quote!
It just occured to me that if this Sara Ramirez thing goes further, the two women in George's life (we can't deny Bailey isn't a woman in his life, people) will be Broaway musical vets (Chandra has been on Broadway in Avenue Q, On the Town and Caroline, or Change).
I am praying that the producers pick up on this fact and George has some sort of Musical Daydream fantasy sequence. Hey...they already did a hot lesbian shower scene...why not.

Love Sara Ramirez...hate her character. Shes so random. So she sees George...flirts with him within like 2 seconds of seeing him, pops his shoulder back in and then gives him her number later, all while doing she coy little seductive thing. Meh...
Previews for next week look good. Uhm...just the fact that Bailey hands over the baby to Christina and tells her to watch him is going to be hysterical. Christina...and a baby...lol. Sandra Oh is amazingly funny and I think next show is going to be very interesting. I just wish we didnt have to wait 2 weeks for it.

Link, quotes weren't as good this week as last week, were they?
I LOVE what Izzy said, "If it comes that we have to choose sides for this, I choose his." I love that. I only wonder, why? I mean, I guess Izzy sees what Meredith did as low and mean and trashy. She hurt George. I guess that's why.
You left out my favorite!
Bailey: Do. You. Understand?
McDreamy: I'm not mentally challenged.
Bailey: Ohhh, I'm not so sure about that.

I admit I just recently started watching this show. I've become a huge Sara Ramirez fan after seeing her in Spamalot and started watching as soon as I heard she was signed on(early season 2). I'm hooked. Great writing! I love the fact that whenever I think the show is going to go in one direction, it throws you and goes a completely different way.
I had seen Sideways and was not thrilled with it but I must say Sandra Oh is amazing on this. Christina and Bailey are my two favorite characters.
Still a bit early to see how Sara's character will pan out. I was surprised to see her so forward with an intern so quickly but I trust the writers. They know what they are doing. Seems like when she snapped his shoulder she kind of snapped him out of his rut!
BTW, have you read the writer's blogs on the abc website. I think it's so great they take the time to write and explain why they went a certain way and even don't mind people disagreeing with their choices. I mean even they were worried about hooking up George and Meredith. But I think it's better to do it now, get it over with, let George get closure and move on. We don't need another show with an unrequited love interest that goes on for season after season.
Oh and as far as a dream sequence with Sara and Chandra singing, I doubt that would happen but on the recent podcast Shonda and the other writer were raving about Sara's voice, so they know she can sing.

I love the writer's blog. I read it after every episode and it usually clarifies a few things for me and confirms that this is one of the best shows on television. It's interesting to hear what the writers were thinking when they made certain decisions. Here's a good part from the entry about this week's episode, about why the sex wasn't such a bad thing for George:
"The important thing to remember, though – is that while Meredith wishes things could go back to the way they were before the sex… (the way, I think, most of us have felt – or would feel - in similar situations…) George does not. And that’s huge. Because… before the sex – George was in limbo. But after the sex? As painful as the outcome was – he’s suddenly not. George knows exactly where he stands. There’s finally some closure. And that’s a good thing. It’s what will fuel him through the rest of the season…
Which is also why it was so important to break from tradition, and let George do the voice over for this episode. We needed to be inside HIS head. Hearing HIM tell us about karma. We needed to hear George explain how karma isn’t unfair – it isn’t unexpected – it just evens the score. Hearing George say that is what assures us that – even after all of this, he’s going to be just fine."

I have to say, I was getting a little bored with it last night.
Unless something comes out of the poison oak scenes (Why was there more than one?), I think it was a waste of time.
I wanted to see more of Patricia Clarkson and the Chief, or atleast have Mer find out about their affair.
link, love the quotes!!!!
A. Patricia Clarkson, not on the show. Her name is Kate Burton
B. Meridith does know about the affair. Ellis was talking about it as if it had just happened... again. That's why Meridith called her a dirty whore.

I'm really not a Meredith fan lately (with the exception of the Super Bowl episodes). Yes, she's going through some tough stuff with her parents, and yes, McDreamy hurt her, but hurting someone else to make herself feel better (i.e. George--not OK). One of my grandmother's had a VERY hard life, and used that for the rest of her life as an excuse for being mean to everyone. My (other, nicer) grandma had this saying, "Pray to God, but row towards shore," meaning, you can wish all you want that something good will happen or some change will take place, but you have to take responsibility for your life. I understand being upset about the Dr. Shepards situation, but at some point you have to decide to move on, and it's been long enough that she needs to stop whining about things, and start chosing to better her life on her own. Also, I hate this concept that she seems to have that life is not worth living if she doesn't have a man to make her complete. I think it's odd that the title and central character of a show is the least likeable.

I don't think she's so unlikeable. Like many have said, it's her flaws and her unperfectness that just make her real, almost as if she could be any one of us, and is every one of us in some way, in the sense that she makes mistakes and is so vulnerable. I;m not saying we're all as vulnerable as she is, but we are, at some point in our lives, vulnerable, and the writers wrote her as a complex character, who is more real than many others on television, and I think that's one of the reasons people like the show so much, it is so real.
On a side note, last night's episode was amazing, and I definately can't wait two more weeks to see the next one! Also, does anyone else love the music used on the show? I find it adds to the overall godness of the show! So far, the writers of Grey's anatomy seem to be doing everything right! Hopefully they keep it up for a while, at least.

I don't think Mer knows who her mother had the affair with.
Even if her mother didn't directly tell her, I'm pretty sure that Mer could figure it out.
