HOMELAND season finale

Is anyone else watching this?! We still have an hour left and my emotions are already all over the place. What a way to bounce back from a disappointing past two episodes! This show is probably going to give me a heart attack or a nervous breakdown by time midnight comes...

The way HOMELAND constantly and cleverly subverts your expectations and attention is so, so genius. GAHH!

EDIT: Maybe it's not two hours? My TV says it's over at 12:10? Hm... Regardless, WOW. What a finale. Wow, wow, wow.

That was unbelievable. Really incredible television that totally made up or a weaker second season.

Also, now there are a ton of people theorizing that Saul is the mole and set everything up. They have good arguments but I just can't bring myself to believe that.

^ I've been saying that since the pilot! Now that Abu Nazir is gone, Carrie can go after Patti.

I wonder if Brody will be back as a regular next season or if they're sort of kissing his storyline goodbye for a while. All season long, I kept thinking they should kill him off but when it was revealed that Quinn couldn't and didn't kill him, I was sort of...happy. I'm glad they decided not to wipe him off the map completely.

They exhausted too many stories this season. It was sort of embodying the SNL skit of the show. It was as if the writers were trying to reach a point that Brody would have to die but no show has ever done that to a pillar character this early. And honestly, I'd take alive Brody as a major player in season 3 if it meant no more family and 'Uncle' Mike.

Saul as mole has been a theory since Season 1. I would really hate if it went there. I wish we saw more of F. Murray Abraham's character this season.

Also I'm confused on the political history in the Homeland universe. Eric Holder is Attorney General, Osama bin Laden was taken out by Vice President Walden, etc. By the way, the country should be going INSANE with the recent events.

I thought there was the possibility of Saul's being a mole in season one - something subtle, quick and mysterious happenedin his office, I can't remember, but it got me thinking. I no longer believe that.

I expect to see a great deal more of Rupert Friend and F. Murray Abraham as the plot thickens next season. Peter Quinn is a mysterious element and his threatening Estes last night was very unsettling.

A great season and a great cliffhanger.

I'm choosing to believe that the Season 3 plot twist will be that Brody's awful daughter is actually Abu Nazir in an exceedingly complicated disguise.

You missed nothing. The show makes absolutely no sense. None. Zero. Zilch. Zippo.

I mean...I love it cause it's fun and exciting and Clair Danes' ugly cries give birth to angels in heaven, but there is nothing even remotely plausible about anything that happens on the show.

I'm not even sure Patinkin's beard would be allowed anywhere except in a bus and truck of FIDDLER.

We should do a web series featuring your Claire Danes ugly cry and my Clair Danes Temple Grandin impression.

I'm sure we won't get any negative comments.

Realistic? Not a chance. Entertaining? Absolutely.

Unless Elisabeth Moss pulls off a magic trick in the upcoming season of Mad Men, Claire Danes will win another Emmy in a walk. Damian Lewis has more competition, but really, how many Emmys does Bryan Cranston need? And with this episode as his submission, Mandy could clean up in Supporting.

Yeah, from unauthorized photos of Season 6 shooting, Peggy is still apart of the show but how much is questionable. And Stan Rizzo has a Saul beard now so look those photos up!

The show not only got completely implausible but a little insulting on the false equivalencies. Suddenly Dana was in her father's position of a grieving, traumatized, good person while Finn was in his father's position of heartless, irresponsible, murderer kid. What happened to Finn happens with a lot of rich, privileged kids but the show decided to make all of the Waldens evil.

This was mentioned on a podcast I listened to but Breaking Bad last season, which got criticism for burning through too much plot than its slow burning previous seasons, had entire episodes centered around a situation that on Homeland was done without any trouble, such as Brody with the pacemaker. I know those are two different shows but there would be these quick turns with a sudden ticking clock but no real sense of dread for a profession where that pretty much goes with the job. At least season 1 had that with Carrie's turmoil in trying to prove Brody was a terrorist.

I think what did it for me was the Abu Nazir surprise skype on the blackberry with Brody just a few feet away from his wife and daughter.
