As Sweeney sings, "They all deserve to die. Tell you why, Mrs Lovett, tell you why..."
Here's Flip-Flopping Rudy:
===
GOP presidential rival Rudy Giuliani on Sunday declined to discuss the matter during a separate television interview except to say he had heard Huckabee say it was not "his current position."
"I have enough of my own statements and issues that I have to deal with," the former New York mayor said, laughing.
Giuliani, who appeared on NBC's "Meet the Press," said he did not believe homosexuality was aberrant. What is sinful are "the acts, not the orientation."

Huckabee sounds like Geroge Bush's kind of people. Aren't we afraid of Religious nuts in other countries who are leaders? How come the rules don't apply to us? Just askin'.

Oh brother. Like the acts committed by the gay couple in whose appartment Rudy couch-surfed for all those months after his wife kicked him out for having an affair? I mean, maybe they were a gay couple who had been together for a really long time and no longer had sex so Rudy saw no problem there. I guess it depends on what your definition of "acts" is.

The difference between George Bush and Mike Huckabee is that when Mr. Bush ran for office back in '00, he passed himself as significantly more moderate than Mr. Huckabee. Mr. Bush was always able to swing those moderate votes. I don't think Huckabee can. Clearly he'll be popular in states with lots of religious wackos... why do we give so much attention to the religious wackos? Why don't we ask moderate and middle class America who they're interested in? Give press to some other non-wack job candidates (a hard task for Republicans).

what huckabee does is take the "compassionate conservatism" that dubya rode into office and make it even more compassionate (except if you happen to be gay in which case you'll be put isolation for your own good). it's a message that will resonate. the so-called moderates out there are of an order or seven more conservative than the average poster here and their circle. what folks here see as whacko, i'd wager the general public would see as normal.
according to rasmussen, michigan - no hotbed of religious zealots - has the gop candidates in a virtual tie with huck leading mutt by one and the candidate formerly known as combover by two. huck's populism and fair tax can compassion is resonating and will continue to do so. he's an incredible speaker - easily the best of the entire pack - and that will serve him well especially in the primaries when he can go into states and meet folks and impress them as being one of them.
with bush fatigue and the much reported and less certain clinton fatigue, huck's message of being an outsider who governs from the heart will win.
the irony is that all of the netroots organization and grass roots ability is on the left and the left will serve up an establishment candidate who doesn't even resonate with them to face a populist candidate who's not beholding to the gop establishment. the candidate the netroots so badly wanted has been found, he's just anti-abortion, anti-gay and republican. he'll win the whole she-bang too. cheney-ites or no cheney-ites.

With only Huckabees, Giulianis, Thompsons, Romneys and McCains to choose from, Republican voters won't really care WHO'S the next president.

Plus, Huckabee has so more graft in his past than Rudy Giuliani and Rudy Giuliani combined.!
---
Huckabee was investigated 16 times and cited five times by the Arkansas Ethics Commission for violating ethics rules. Two of those citations were for cash that the governor or his wife accepted but did not report. Huckabee's gifts peaked at $112,000 in 1999, including $23,000 worth of clothing; over half of that was given by one businessman who Huckabee appointed to a state board.

i disagree, pj, huck's got a message, "i'm an outsider, i'm one of you and i care." it'll resonate if he doesn't burn out and inspire more than just the socons.
rasmussen already has huck trailing rudy by 3 in national polling. he leads mutt and admiral painter by 9 and johnny boy by 12.
huck's national numbers have more than doubled in the last month. that's not indecision, that's a freakin' meteoric rise. the gop may have found their star.
the other thing to consider is that he's not so much pulling from the others (a bit from the candidate formerly known as the combover) as he is turning the undecideds to huck-a-maniacs as his favorability has also more than doubled in the last three weeks.
also working to his advantage is the fact that he hasn't been included in any of the major (aside from rasmussen where he trails the carpetbagger by 1 and hussein by 4) so there's not as much name fatigue.

it works for that too, but, just like dollypop, they have to go to confession afterwards if they want to go to heaven according to the catholic church.
c'mon, who was it signed the law recognizing domestic partnerships in nyc?
i admit he's only my choice by default after huck's "hey boys, let's lock up all them thar gays," but i'll take the candidate formerly known as combover over any of the dems.
grudgingly.

just the first, phyllis. but remember, the candidate formerly known as the combover (henceforth to be known as tcfkatc) is not the family valuesy guy. not after all those drag appearances and living with gay men.
no the socon in the race is huck and to some extent mutt (who's whatever you want him to be if it means you'll vote for him, and he'll pay, seriously). johnny's the wild card and admiral painter's the sad failure.

True, but he thinks the act of homosexuality is sinful, which I think is curious coming from someone whose marriage is invalid in the eyes of god.
These people think about gay sex more than actual gay people do. I'm just so tired of it being a rallying cry for conservatives.

"In August of 1998, Huckabee was one of 131 signatories to a full page USA Today Ad which declared: “I affirm the statement on the family issued by the 1998 Southern Baptist Convention.” What was in the family statement from the SBC? “A wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband even as the church willingly submits to the headship of Christ."

"DES MOINES, Iowa — Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee's 15-year-old comments that AIDS patients should have been isolated have so alarmed the mother of Ryan White, an Indiana teenager whose life-ending battle with AIDS in the 1980s engrossed the nation, that she has asked for a meeting.
"I would be very willing to meet with them," the former Arkansas governor responded Tuesday while campaigning in western Iowa. "I would tell them we've come a long way in research, in treatment."
The GOP front-runner in Iowa's Jan. 3 caucuses stood by his 1992 comments in a broadcast interview Sunday, infuriating Jeanne White-Ginder, the late teen's mother and a board member of the AIDS Institute.
"It's so alarming to me," she said in a telephone interview Monday with The Associated Press from her home in Leesburg, Fla.
"It's very important to me that we don't live in the darkness" when people thought AIDS was transmitted through casual contact, such as by "kissing, tears, sweat and saliva," White-Ginder said. "We have to treat this disease like a disease, and like Ryan always said, not like a dirty word.""
