first off, THANK YOU EVERYONE!!
i just got home about 10 min ago from the 9 hour train ride home from the city. i will NEVER take a train EVER AGAIN!
i've taken 2 trips to the city within the past 2 and a half weeks for this. i had an initial interview, which lasted 1 hour and 15 min. the woman who did it spoke to the principal right after i left and they tried getting in contact with me, but couldn't. so we were going to have a conference call at the beginning of this week. however, i was helping my mom plan her trip to the city with my little sister an my aunt, but she was getting more and more confused about the subway. finally we decided i'd go along and help them out, so i called the school to tell them. they got me in right away for another interview. this one was with 6 administrators. they asked a lot of tough questions, but told me i answered them perfectly. then they asked if i could come back in to do a demo lesson the next morning. no pressure, they just wanted to see how i interacted with the kids. so i had to come up with a lesson last minute that would fit 3rd graders at all level.
so i go in to do the demo lesson and there are 10 kids, ranging from 1st grade to 4th grade. all of the people at the interview came in and sat down in the back. it was kind of scary. no pressure at all with 7 of the top people watching every move i make and jotting down notes. the lesson went VERY well though. the principal told me it was close to perfect, small things could be changed, but she knew they wouldn't be a problem for me if it was my classroom and i had more time. so then she offered me the job and is giving me time to think about it. i'm calling her back tomorrow to let her know i accept!
and ACTUALLY rath, its not the dept of ed... i won't get into how THAT interview went a few months ago, but this is a charter school... and i'm glad i'm there as opposed to the public schools. it's everything you could want in a nyc school... INCLUDING an amazing view
cookie, too late... i swung by the rochard rodgers 2 nights ago when my fam went to see the show. i was meeting them after and my sister wanted to stage door, so i stayed with her and took pics for her. Josh saw me taking the pic (i was REALLY shaking by the way...) and remembered me. he gave me a big hug and asked how i was doing... it was great. same thing with Merle... i love those 2!
and undi, i wasn't busy tanning... i'm BURNED from before my trip when i was doing CRAZY work at home... my back is peeling badly!
thanks again everyone for the thoughts... i'm SO excited about this and can't wait to move down... whenever that is... and wherever... this is going to be an interesting summer!
