Why is Ham Salad the bastard step-child of the sandwich filling salads? It's ever so yummy! I just ate some Jewel (Albertson's) deli counter Ham Salad, which is arguably the least appealing of the possible Ham Salads and still it was just too delish. I love Chicken Salad and Tuna Salad and Shrimp Salad and even fake crab "Seafood Salad" but Ham Salad is the best-- and yet it gets no respect.
Give up some love for Ham Salad!

Nahhh...chicken salad all the way.
I will, however, give it up for cubes of ham in potato salad. Have you tried it before? Ham potato salad (with green onion, corn and a splash of lemon juice) is absolutely the best salad out there.

Posted: 11/11/05 at 5:53pmI LOVE ham salad - the only way I'll eat ham. My mother used to make it all the time but called it "chopped ham and pickle." She always called everything by odd, weird names, that I only realized when I went out into the world and had a lot of trouble getting anything I wanted. Because I was always asking for the wrong thing.

Posted: 11/11/05 at 6:04pmI adore ham salad - particularly my own home made. Sweet pickle relish was an absolute requirement. If I didn't have any, I didn't make the salad! It's good just spooned on top of crackers. You don't even need bread.
A click for life.

Uggh Rath, that sounds like my grandmother. She'll try to explain something (usually dance, in fact) using the completely wrong terminology. What's bad is that she is convinced she knows exactly what she's talking about.
And I know it's not just her being senile because my father does it also and gets upset when I try to corrct him.
Ughgh, my family.

I suppose that I'm the only one who thought of ham salad as cubes of ham mixed with lettace, tomato, cucumber and that kinda stuff??
Sometimes that is how I eat tuna salad. I just put the tuna in with the lettace and vegies with italian dressing...

I don't really like to think about ham salad, because I can't seem to separate it from church basements and funerals. It doesn't matter what it tastes like, it's a church funeral food. That's enough to ruin it.

Sorry honey. Not my favorite. I do love whitefish the best.
Tuna is second and Chicken salad is third.
I don't like ham at all. Turkey salad is also delish.
And I don't like shrimp salad. I like them best with cocktail sauce and at City Crab. Putting mayo on shrimp is a crime.
This SHRIMP. LOVES SHRIMP!!!!

I just *love* how in America, anything mashed to unrecognizability and mixed with mayonnaise is a "salad". :-P

Corine,
You are definitley cool in my book! Q is my favorite show in the whole entire world!! I go outside and sing that to everyone. The people next door have loud sex so I play that song really loud!
People at college are ready to shoot me. They can't even mention it, otherwise I will have a Q burst out...and it will last quite a long time.

Hell, I'll eat anything with 'salad' attatched to it:
Egg
Chicken
Tuna
Ham
I love them all!
Of course, I do loves me some ham anyway. I've always been a 'salty meat' sort of guy.

Has anyone had spam salad? I have heard of it, but am too scared to even attempt it. I have heard from people who abhore plain spam that it is yummy, but....I don't think I am trying it.
Eggplant salad is also a really good alternative for our vegetarian friends. Surprisingly good!
