I think he will be big too, I think he has his own "Voldemort" in Bellatrix. He has to avenge his family.
I went back to see it again this afternoon. For what it's worth - Harry's scar is visible throughout the entire movie. Because of the questions about it here, I really looked for it. His hair hung down over it in most of the scenes, but you could still see it. At the very beginning, when he's sitting on the swing, his hair blows out of the way a little and the scar is clearly seen. It also appears all through the film - you just have to look harder for it.
I saw the movie this afternoon. I was pretty much disappointed. The editing was awkward, the story a bit of a mess and I felt it never really "took off"
My favorite moments were of Luna (Evanna Lynch). She's going to be one to watch.. a great film debut.
I will have to see it again. I think I was a bit excited and trying to take everything in. Probably why I missed the scar. But I am sure I will still come away with the same thoughts on the movie that I posted earlier. Or at least most of them.
The scar definitely was there, it poked out every now and then, but Harry always tries to hide it so...that's why it isn't noticeable.
Damn those cocktails before the movie!!!
The cover clearly depicts both Harry AND Voldemort behind the veil. Also, we don't know that anyone who crosses the veil dies. The final book is pretty much a free for all.
I don't think he's gonna die. I dunno, I just have a gut feeling.
Well one of my (Many!) other thoughts is that Vodermort will kill someone close to him and he may possibly kind of take the place of Dumbledore. Yes he is young, but it could come out that he will be the only one as powerful as Dumbledore. This story has had so many twists, it's possible.
I hope Voldemort dies. And besides Harry or Voldemort, wasn't another major character supposed to die?
I think it might be Snape.
GuitarGirl, have you read the books?
Yes, I've read the books (all more than once, except the first).
My bad, I mis-read your post. For some reason I saw Dumbledore and not Voldermort. Sorry. I am re-reading book 6 this evening. Maybe its to to give my eyes a rest!
Voldemort and Dumbledore tend to get mixed up sometimes. I understand! :) I've said Dumbledore at times when I've meant to say Voldemort, and vice-versa. I wonder if J.K. Rowling intended that... :P
Okay, I just got back from seeing it tonight and all I can say is, that was damn near perfect! I am SO glad that David Yates will be returning for HBP!
The direction was fine. Just glad Goldenberg is not doing the script again. Didn't care for the screenplay.
I just got back from seeing this. It's my least favorite of the books, but I think it's my favorite of the movies. I LOVED how they did the "showdown."
The standouts for me were the newbies - Bellatrix, Umbridge, Tonks, and Luna. I would have loved to see Tonks more, though. Same goes with Bellatrix. Helena was great.
Imelda Staunton - could she be any more perfect?
With regards to the whole "two people die in the last book" thing, the full quote was actually along the lines of "two people die who weren't originally going to die". I strongly suspect the final death toll will be significantly higher than two.

Yep, that's right, JKR said that, in writing Book 7, she killed 2 she hadn't planned to, and reprieved one she had originally planned to kill. (I'm still convinced the reprieve is Lupin.) We can bet that a lot more than two will die in the final book.
About the OOTP movie: I saw it yesterday and agree with a lot of the criticism - I don't see how anyone who is not a fan of the books could follow this without being totally confused. Even for a reader, there were a lot of blink-and-you'll-miss-it moments: OK, so that's Tonks... Oh, yeah, Kreacher... Hey, look, it's Percy! ... There was an awful lot of seemingly significant stuff omitted: Percy's falling out with his family, Sirius' family connections (apart from Bellatrix) and the story of Brother Regulus, etc. Assuming everything in the movie happens with JKR's blessing, I took Sirius being hit with the AK first as saying, "He's DEAD, I mean it, now quit asking about veils and magic mirrors and such, he's DEAD!" And I took the omission of any discussion of Neville re the prophecy as "No, there's not going to be a last minute twist where we find out Neville was the chosen one all along, the books are called 'Harry Potter and the...' for a reason!" (Although Neville is definitely going to be heroic and avenge his parents against Bellatrix.)
On the plus side: Imelda Staunton is fantastic (as always). For me, Umbridge is the most upsetting, anger-inducing character in all Potterdom, worse than Evil Overlord Tom Voldypants, worse than fun-to-hiss Melodrama Baddie Lucius Malfoy, because she is the sort of bullying, self-righteous petty tyrant who exists in the real world. I would love to see Imelda get some award recognition at the end of the year. (And the kitten plates were a hoot.)
For the first time, I really wished I'd seen one of the movies before reading the corresponding book JUST because of Luna Lovegood. I had a hard time warming up to her in the book, but Evanna Lynch was so cute, she made her really sweet and lovable instead of just bizarre.
I love Matthew Lewis! How on earth could they have known that the pudgy little kid they cast as Neville would grow up into this tall, gawky, adorably dorky young man? (And I mean that as a compliment.) I agree that it would have been great to see the St Mungo's scene with his parents.
Ron and Hermione ARE the Screwball Comedy Romantic Couple, they have been since they met cute on the train in Year 1, and I really enjoyed everything between them in the movie. I can handle it if JKR kills Harry in the end, but please, oh, please, let Ron & Hermy go off into the sunset and raise the next brood of Weasleys!
I, too, dream of a day in the future when the BBC, or whatever Anglocentric media entity still exits in 30 years, does the series-of-mini-series "Complete Harry Potter." In my Ideal Fantasy World, we might see Dame Emma Thompson as McGonagall and Sir Hugh Laurie as Dumbledore; Lupin will be Hot, Lucius Malfoy will Not, and the GOF adaptation will include my favorite forgotten character of the Potterverse, Ludo Bagman. And I would be around to see it.
I just came back from the movie and I was dissapointed. The movie was an outline of the book. They should have expanded more on Kreacher. And what happened to the whole thing about Percy joining the ministry and basicly betraying his family? And what about the theory that Snape was just teaching Harry Oculmency to make him weaker? I felt they could have made the movie longer as well. They had time to make some things meatier.
The acting was all pretty good, except for Cho. What happened to her crying when Harry kissed her?
I forget, was it this book where Ron and Hermione become prefects, and the whole gang visits St. Mungos, and you find out that Voldemort could have also chosen to kill Nevile instead of Harry, or is that all in the 6th book?

Interestingly, Percy was listed in the ending credits. I must have missed him....
Percy was in the scene in Dumbledore's office after Umbridge burst in on the DA meeting. He didn't have any lines and was on screen in all of two or three shots. Perhaps you blinked.
You could also see half is face in Harry's hearing.
That was Percy??? For some reason he looked different.Oh well, it gives me a reason to go see the movie again. :)
Which begs the question...
were these cuts made for time, or deliberate (color me jaded) to put out an extended cut like Lord of the Rings. I guess we'll find out in about 6 months or so when the dvd comes out...
It would be nice to have an extended version. Either that, or there will be many deleted scenes.
