yeah, it's Sherri Sheperd's new sitcom.
I have to admit that she's adorable and very funny on it. I like the show too. And I'm not a sitcom watcher. A couple of the characters are WAY over the top, but Sherri's good!

#3re: Has anyone been watching SHERRI?
Posted: 10/6/09 at 7:50pmSherri Shepard is. She is Hasselback's wing woman and has publicly said on The View that she would not accept her son if he were gay. I know she gets all sassy with the queens, but I know how she feels in her heart and therefore, I can't in good conscience support her. That's just for me, not saying anyone has to agree with me.

I don't find her funny. Her "say something stupid then cover it up with black sass" schtick on the View grates on my nerves and her generic delivery just does nothing for me.
Maybe I'm biased because I find her to be an ignorant hypocrite whose head would explode if she tried to say something smart.

Posted: 10/6/09 at 8:04pmI've been pretty upfront about my dislike for Sherri on the view, based on how stupid I think she is. that's why I tuned in to her sitcom - to see if there was any talent behind the "not smartness". I think there is.

I've watched on TV for years, she plays the same thing. Token black smartass who's cute because she's sassy and acts as if she thinks she's funnier than she is.
Newsflash - she's not.

There are a few words that come to mind when I think of Sherri Shepherd: sanctimonious, hypocritcal and bitch.
Hate her. Won't be watching.

Posted: 10/7/09 at 6:55amDon't know if she's a bitch but she's def a sanctimonious, hypocritical, homophobic ignoramus. I'd sooner scrub my toilet than watch her show.

#12re: Has anyone been watching SHERRI?
Posted: 10/7/09 at 10:45amThe only funny thing she's done is go down the luge at the olympics for her friend Ellen. Now she doesnt think Ellen should be married. She's an ignorant jackass.

Why are so many of you boycotting watching a show because of its star's political opinions? That's like not watching a Disney movie because he was an anti-Semite (not that I'm comparing Sherri with Disney).
Jane2, I actually saw the show (two episodes now) and really enjoyed it.

Posted: 10/7/09 at 8:20pmthanks, bway. I was actually one of the most vocal people here who made fun of Sherri. I'm definitely not a fan of the person, but I do like her as a comedienne.

Yeah, that was a poor choice of words on my part, and anti-Semitism isn't a political opinion either. But you get my point. Not liking a person's values, opinions, beliefs, phobias, "isms," etc. is no reason to boycott their work.
Other famous anti-Semites very few people seem to boycott:
Henry Ford
Richard Wagner

For me it's walking the walk. Why would I increase the ratings and possibly the pocketbook of a homophobe. I don't see why this is such a difficult concept to understand.

It isn't easy to separate the person from their art. I'll admit to feeling a little differently about some art once I found out the artist was an antisemite. Therefore, I can't blame the gays for not watching Sherri's show.

I personally think there's a big difference between Ford and Disney being Anti-Semitic in the first half of the 20th Century and Sherri Shepard being an intolerant ignoramus who's not sure the world is round in the 21st century.
You expect the human race to make progress.

Henry Ford was a major innovator and changed the course of the 20th century. I would never say that his anti-Semitism was in any way acceptable, but he did make technical advancements and improve the mechanisms of American factories. He was just plain wrong in his thoughts on religion, but he did help technology in its development.
Sherri Shepard is a homophobe. I won't disagree that she can be funny, because in the right situation, she can deliver the right lines. However, she doesn't bring anything new to the table. It's almost funny having her across the table from Whoopi, because Whoopi has the sass and the intellect to be both funny and provocative, a skill dumb-as-rocks Sherri just doesn't have. I could see her having a long career on UPN, because that network loved the ~~uh-HUH~~ line delivery, but she just doesn't know how to deliver to a wider audience.

"Sherri Shepard is. She is Hasselback's wing woman and has publicly said on The View that she would not accept her son if he were gay."
Which just makes her a HUGE hypocrite, because she did her stand up act in more gay clubs than I can count.
I introduced her on SEVERAL occasions down in Orange County.
What a douche.

Posted: 10/9/09 at 1:51pmWalt Disney and Henry Ford are dust (or an ice cube, perhaps). The corporations they leave behind do not espouse or support the repugnant views they held. If the CEO of either company were espousing those views today, then it might be an apt comparison.

The above reads to me like you're saying it's less heinous to be antisemitic if you've accomplished something more important than if you're a comedienne.
