Thinking of doing it.
If you've done it, what are your thoughts/opinions on it? How difficult was it?

I haven't done it, but I've heard mixed things from friends/coworkers. One of my coworkers lives by it as does it every few months. Another friend of mine tried it and got very sick (possibly because of lack of nutrition, or maybe because of the cleanse drink itself.)

If you've never done a cleanse before I recommend doing it during time off from work. Some people become very zen and centered and calm and can work as usual. I become exhausted, moody, depressed, hungry and delirious. I like the benefits but the most I have managed is 3 or 4 days. Its very intense. You need to listen to your body.
I'm most worried about the salt water cleanse. I'm concerned about there being some kind of "incident" at work, if you catch my drift. I don't have the kind of job where I can just leave whenever I need to to go to the bathroom.

I did it with Patti LuPone, but I hear Tyne Daly is great too.

LOL, Namo!
My roommate did it a few months ago. I thought he'd last a week but he proved me wrong the end of the second day when I saw him eating cake.
I knew a girl who did the master Cleanse once.
And then she died.
i mastercleanse. i'm not ashamed to admit it. not everyday, but y'know, enough.
oh, wait...

I think I'll just bypass the headaches, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, delirium et al and just stay sick. Sounds healthier.

In all seriousness, I'd check with a doctor before doing this, pre-existing conditions or otherwise. A lot of these "cleansing" claims are not backed up by any credible medical research, and not eating anything but sryup and lemon juice for a week or more can have some pretty serious consequences.

"And drugs have so many serious, even life-threatening side effects that are awful and dangerous from their chemicals that they do not inform the public about."
Sweeping generalizations much? I don't know where you get your prescriptions filled, (black market maybe?), but I can't leave the pharmacy without pages of drug information stapled to a bag with a prescription in it.
"The MC is actually good for treating and healing ulcers if you read more about it. The cayenne is, like other pepper, a disinfectant, and it also improves blood circulation. Often diseases begin in the gastrointestinal tract. Between the cayenne and the salt water flush, germs are given the boot."
I love when people discard Western medicine and replace it with a belief system that's even crazier.

I know someone who does it - she looses a lot of weight but I've heard that drinks are horrid and it's very difficult to stick with.
And the weight loss is very temporary, isn't it?
Because it's mostly water?
I don't think the medical establishment has all the answers by any means, but there are a ton of hucksters (just watch the late-night infomercials) who cloud the discussion even further with nonsense claims such as that most people are carrying 30 or 40 pounds of impacted waste in their colon or that you can pull toxins out of your body with a foot bath. (which amazingly turns the same nasty, murky color if you run it without your feet in it!)
Again, if there are any credible studies that can back up these claims, I'd love to read them. I certainly don't have all the answers, either.

Faye Dunaway ruined it for me.
It does more than weight loss, Jordan.
It doesn't do weight loss at all. It has never been proven to work as any kind of authentic weight-loss program for anyone.
It creates a temporary wasting syndrome that is short-lived. Within days a few weeks, the weight is gained back, which creates a yo-yo pattern similar to fad diets.
In addition, the "thrill" of the deprivation period and the illusion of positive effects creates a kind of addiction pattern, in which the person who has been "cleansed" develops a need to go back and be "cleansed" again and again and again.
It also takes on a cult-like aspect, in that the person who has been "cleansed" goes out and tells others how the "Master Cleanse" will cure all their ills and finally make them happy-at-last.
