OH MY CHRIST! Its really a good thing that I dont watch TV after 9, unless its West Wing or Project Runway. As a ballet dancer for 10 years and counting (Im taking a break, thats all my hiatus is) I am appalled that he has the unmitigated gall to believe that he can even remotly have all thetehnique required for the Nutcracker PERFECTED in, what is it? 30 days? thats digusting!...and thats my rant
Ah, dance belt shopping. Horrid memories from my own early days in ballet class!
The show IS very fake - you don't tell MTV what you want to be - MTV picks it for you.

"...dance belt shopping..."
Leave it to MTV to (literally) bring everything down to crotch level.
Didn't they have some girl last year that wanted to be in 42nd Street?? She learned tap dancing and such and got past the first round of audition.
MTV rigs the show? That blows. I just watched it for the first time tonight and thought the ballet episode was good. :/

The show was not rigged, to an extent the camera men did manipulate situations. But it was sincere and real. Mack chose his dream it was not given to him, he actually wanted to do ballet. Now was he really a jock beforehand that could be in question. Like the episode shows umm we don't have jocks at our school. Also he got the audition fair and square, though you have to remeber he only performed a very small part.

MTV does not choose the goals for the people. That's just absurd.
Raise your hand if you think that this kid Mack is closeted.
Are you guys joking? The show is COMPLETELY and utterly rigged. I'm not lying to you. My sister's best friend (still in HS) got chosen for the show, and he wanted them to make him into something else - but MTV said no, we choose what we make you into, and they chose to make him into prom king. Unfortunately, the principal wouldn't allow them to tape at the school so he had to turn it down. But trust me guys, I'm not lying - I know first hand that the show is slightly rigged. There's no use in arguing something you know nothing about - I know this for sure.
that guy is from my town!

I saw about 15 minutes of this show and was appalled-- and I don't appall easily. I have no inside knowledge, but I'd imagine that the word "Reality" is VERY loosely applied to this show. So much of it rang absolutely false. And how many times do we mention this 15-year-old boys crotch? I found the Dance Belt scene to be deeply offensive and bordering on teen porn.
I will admit I laughed out loud when the classmate said that all the girls wanted Mack, but for some reaason they couldn't "get" him. I would imagine that there are MANY things about this show that will embarrass Mack in the years to come.
You were offended by a teen reality show?
This must have been an add for The Rock School.
The guy couldn't stand in a basic turned out fourth position.
I doubt he would have passed a real audition.
okay...here's the deal:
When you go to the website to apply for an audition, you send MTV your goal and your ideas on what you will need and how long it will take to get you there.
They review the tape and then eitehr ignore you or email you with a message to the equilvalent of "we may consider you to be considered". They ask you more about yourself and then get back to you again.
After that, if they are really serious, a producer will call you and talk to you about what your ideas are and if, in all reality they could be achieved.
This all happened to me...I applied for MADE and got all the way to the 4th round of "auditions" as it were, but then they decided that I wan't interesting enough or something.
What is "rigged" about the show is that what you see on the show is only maybe 5% of what actually goes on...they edit and take things out of context to make better TV.

munkustrap: Perhaps that was YOUR experience. But I don't think you were present for all of the other tapings of the show.

No need to be pretentious.

eh plenty people know about delaware. Hockessin thats another story heh. But anyways umm mack chose to do ballet. He got picked because MTV was oddly enough looking for participants through a contest type thing in the local libararies. I am friends with mack the show wasn't "rigged" that was true mack. Yah some parts might be emphasized but its quite true.
yeah i saw the episode w/ the girl who wanted to be in 42nd street. i thought it was total bullsh*t, but then i was relieved when she didn't make it past the second audition round. if mtv had messed with a friggin broadway audition, that would be screwy, but at least they didn't pay the producers or anything to get her a role.
My cousins' school was on Made last year, when the weird punk kid wanted to be made into Mr. North Star. They interviewed my cousin, who was the previous year's winner. They wanted to make him out to be the "popular ladies man" type, just to make it seem like the punk kid was out of his league. But my cousin apparently wasn't cocky enough, so they didn't use any of the footage- he ended up being only on for 3 seconds.
So when they showed Ballet Boy's best friend being the "ladies man", I thought of what my cousin said and knew that those girls probably wouldn't have even talked to him if it weren't for the cameras.
Also, I remember some people last night making a big deal in the beginning about Mack wanting to be a ballet dancer and how "he won't get any girls" and "what man dances ballet?". He went to a performance arts high school, I highly doubt people actually feel that way. MTV kind of directs people to say mean things about the people, and the people say it in hopes of making it on TV. Besides, theater isn't drastically more "masculine" than ballet, so if he was getting that much attention from girls before, I highly doubt the ballet will hurt him.

heh I have to say you explained that perfectly. That's basically true to the T. Everyone had a little chuckle when josh was introduced as a "ladies man", even josh himself.
And the guy dancers at cab are usally the most popular guys in school. Oh and about the masculine thing... you have to remeber that the performers at cab are as close as it gets to the "popular kids". Doing a sport makes you no more respected than anything else, because basically at cab everyone has their own thing so noone is really seen higher then the other.

I hate MADE. This SO rig the show...
A girl from my school wanted to be Homecoming Queen on the show last year. She 'won.' Hah, not really. They rigged it so she could win. Plus, they cut out all the 'boos' at the dance when she won, and replaced it with cheers. I should know, seeing as I was AT the dance. SO FAKE.
