Is that what you think? Honestly, because then it's really not me who is having the problem with comprehension. I have no issues with anyone's doubts, but YOUR doubts only come to light after the cracks in your definitive statements are pointed out.

And, as many people in that religion thread posted--I'm not the only person who misuses the term agnostic.

But, it's still wrong and by not understanding the meaning of the word, it made your argument look foolish. Not until BWW did I ever see a group of agnostics believe in their heart things about God - because having a believe in the existence of God is counterproductive to the very meaning of agnostic. We can keep arguing that out, but you're going to find very little to back you up on it, save for a handful of people who also misuse to word. I can run around saying I believe I'm a tomato. It doesn't make me a tomato, even if I try to convince you that tomato doesn't mean what it means.

And the writer of What The Bible Really Says About Homosexuality saw the video himself and was quite fond of it.

I'm sure he did. The video is a commercial for his book!

Oh it sure is. But I represented him very well in his opinion.

The reason I think so many of us have misused the word is the doubt part. I DO consider the possibility that there is no God. I DO have doubts. But, overall, I believe that there is something that made all this happen. So, when it comes down to it, I believe in God. But, your implying that an agnostic can not believe in God really doesn't give the word much differentiation from agnostic. So, why does myspace, for example, offer various religions, atheist, and agnostic as choices for that section of your profile. Maybe myspace is wrong, too.

But, just because I was wrong on one thing doesn't discount EVERYTHING else I was saying. That's just foolish to imply.

And, yes, you did seem to imply that being in a place of doubt--not being definitively religious or athiest was a bad thing. You implied that I had NO beliefs. You implied that doubters like me aided the Phelps of the world.

Personally, I think the moderates do more of the aiding and abetting. The doubters just confuse the issue.

Let me clarify. Agnostic is someone who is sure that the existence of God can't be known. Atheistic is someone who knows there is no God. Theist is someone who knows there is a God. Doubting is a condition of any of these. You can be a doubting theist, or a doubting atheist, but agnostic is NOT what you are when you usually believe one way but occasionally have doubts.

Okay. Let's imagine the world if Barack Obama became president. You know, after he's dealt with a failing economy, gotten us out of an unwinnable war, dealt with potential threats from N. Korea, China, Pakistan, Iran, etc, (hopefully) scaled back the expanded powers of the executive office that prey on civil liberties, and maybe during all that he finds a chance to repeal DaDt, DoMa, and pass a civil unions/rights act (likely initiatives of a Democratic congress)...

What is he going to do then to placate outspoken black homophobes (ultimately probably a small group) that he hasn't done thus far in his career? Maybe go to a concert and watch a homophobic country singer? You make it sound like he's going to start a gay holocaust.

You can substitute all of the above with Hillary Clinton's name.
