Would someone care to post some pictures of Faye Dunaway now? I would like to see what all the fuss is about!
Also, in terms of an actual remake of the film there is more to their story that one can focus on...particulary Clyde Barrow's sexuality. The original did deal with it, but it was more implied and less literal.
Also, I don't think that this is the first remake of the story...I distinctly remember a T.V. movie or mini-series in the 1990's when I was in elementary school.

Faye seemingly had a deep plane facelift quite a few years ago. They give that wind tunnel/"done"/Upper East Side look that has fallen out of vogue, and they take quite some time to "relax". It's kind of sad that in a youth-obsessed business, efforts to remain youthful can do women more harm than good. It's hard enough for a woman her age to find work, but especially when she looks like a very specific type, the society doyenne (think of Joan Van Ark on Nip/Tuck) who is perhaps less convincing as a "real" woman in her late 60s. I'm sure her reputation for being difficult (which Bette Davis of all people confirmed) hasn't helped things either.
No Dorothy Faye Dunaway thread is complete without the following:

Posted: 2/5/09 at 3:17amI still think she looks gorgeous, even with her facelift. MTVMANN- there was a pic called Bonnie and Clyde: The True Story in 1992. The actor who played Matt on "Melrose Place" was in it- can't recall his name.

Crowned! I saw the girl who won on Estate of Panic as well. Though she didn't mention Crowned. I guess she's doing the reality competition circuit. I hope she's on Wipeout next!

I hope Duff ends up delivering a solid performance.
I'm a big Fay fan, but I think the plastic surgery was a dumb move.

Posted: 2/14/09 at 8:42pmI get what you're saying. Duff has had some work done herself (teeth). So many of the older actresses have ruined themselves with plastic surgery (Mary Tyler Moore doesn't even look like the same person at all). However, Dunaway is 69 and has proven herself in the movies. Duff said to Bonnie Hunt that she was still learning. I guess that was Dunaway's point. There are so many really good actresses out there who have already learned! (Julia Stiles, Natalie Portman...)

I don't fault any actor for having cosmetic surgery. Yes, it does remove character from the face, but that's the price you pay. Many actors would try to stretch the years a little for getting some more work in an industry that has little need for naturally aged faces.
Yes, you can quote a few who've gotten work in roles calling for older characters, but it's not the norm. Eventually, the plastic surgery ceases to help, but I can understand the need to do initially.

I'm not against comestic surgery, I'm just against bad cosmetic surgery.
Raquel Welch has probably had work done, but she hasn't gone overboard with it.
