"Are you're trying to say that Obama doesn't calculate every move of his campaign?"
Of course not, but the Obama supporters here don't refer to the Clinton supporters as cult followers or in my case "fag basher", "homophobe", "mysogynist", "stupid", etc the minute I dared file a minority report against Hillary's candidacy.
I've taken the high road though because I've been inspired to do so by Obama.

yeah, Yawper--as a matter of fact, I do--are you aware of the national reputation that city that you live near has? We toured there several times and were VEHEMENTLY warned about the crime--not that we needed a verbal warning--the visual clues abounded.
It may not be THE most dangerous city in the US--it was in 2007--but it's usually #2.
And Detroit is technologically falling FAR behind--if the auto industry does not begin to make advances that are more in keeping with the growing environmental danger, they will left behind like the railroad system.

calvin - There is a facebook thread that you can go to and discuss the right way to eat a boiled egg. If you would like to resume a discussion about this primary race, that would be fine.
Otherwise, shush--the adults are talking.

As far as the crime goes, yes, we know there is a problem. The city itself is barely keeping afloat and the police department is woefully understaffed. The vast majority of the crime is related to domestic violence and drug trafficking. We do not pretend to be perfect and we would never want to see visitors become crime victims, but our downtown area, where most tourists stay, is safer than the majority of central business districts in the country. The visual clues you speak of are signs of poverty. The entire state is financially struggling right now, yet for decades Michigan has sent more $$ to Washington D.C. than it has ever received back in funding or services. Essentially we are supporting states like New Mexico, which recently received back more than 200% of what it paid in.
"And Detroit is technologically falling FAR behind"
Not true at all - as a matter of fact lack of action by the Bush administration has given away an eight year technological advantage the domestics had over the Japanese. Comments like yours regarding the auto industry are ill informed. If you really want to know and understand what's going on you need to read the industry trades. Detroit automakers have ongoing test projects for every alternative energy available. Big Oil doesn't like that and, right now, Big Oil has a good friend in the White House and many more on the Hill.

This thread was a test of character for BroadwayWorld Obama supporters, to see if they could treat Senator Clinton with the politeness and respect Senator Obama does and she does him.
Ha. If that were true, you failed the test of character in every single Obama thread posted on BWW to date, because you've never let a single one go by without making some negative comment.
Mrs Clinton’s ballyhooed closing remarks were totally calculated. It was yet another display of one-upswo(man)ship which of course is part and parcel of politics.
Exactly. I was watching and thought it was one of the worst moments; it was a stereotypical sleazy politician response to divert attention. She's supposed to be talking about her personal struggles and instead she changes the subject to gain sympathy via the soldiers whose story she exploited. Obama's comments were calculated, but at least he answered the question.
However, I will admit this segment was not nearly as bad as the Xerox line where she was booed or when she (repeatedly and rudely) interrupted the moderators because she wanted to keep arguing with Obama about health care. Interesting that her website didn't post those clips on YouTube.

You keep on truckin, Yawper. Just make sure your windows are rolled up and your doors locked.
The reputation remains the same.
And I'd say being in the top two most dangerous cities in the US for the past seven years is more than a "problem."

Forty two years and I've never been a victim of crime in the city. I don't do drugs, I rarely go to bars or clubs. If you want trouble you can find it.
You might also like to know that even the FBI takes issue with the way their numbers get used in those news stories (especially since some cities don't even report).

I have never said anything negative about Barrack Obama, only about the meanspiritedness among his followers.
I have never said anything negative about him because I haven't anything negative to say.

I think though, PJ, that what you consider "meanspiritedness" among Obama's followers is really lack of support for Hillary--it really isn't the same thing at all--which is (not to speak for cuban) probably closer to what he means.
It reminds me of when I was in WEST SIDE in college: after the show we were doing a meet n' greet with some people and I got a compliment from someone who had another friend in the cast--he immediately gets offended, saying, "Oh, so I'm not good?" She simply said, "Lildogs being good doesn't automatically make you bad."
