Horrible First Names — Page 3

There was a Kenya in every school I've ever attended (in high school we had one in each grade).
We also had a teacher named (God, I hope she doesn't read this board! Who'm I kidding? Of course she doesn't) named Princess. What made it funny was that her last name is Pegues and you pronounce it piggies.
Also in my high school, one of our classmates went by the name TJ. We found out at graduation his first and middle names were Telly Savalas.
In college, I worked at a department store. A girl handed me her credit card and her name printed was SD Jones.
When I asked for her identification, I saw she was pretty much hiding the fact that her first name was SH*Tra.
Needless to say, I took the receipt around and showed all of my managers and we laughed for hours.

Aw, poor girl. And really, the parents in my school districts were so unimaginative compared with this. Kinda disappointing in retrospect.

I have a new found appreciation for how my name rolls off the tongue.
I really dislike adjective names, Charisma, Prudence, Precious (I know a bunch of them), Chasity, those always urk me.

Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

I know I read somewhere that parents named their kid's:
April, May, June, August
The sad part is that these kids were all born in these months. Did they plan this, I wonder?
*I am trying to find where I read this. If I find it, I will post it.*

I, too, used to teach. Here are some of the names I will never forget:
Clasters Womble
Lavoris
Trivia
Troyal Spells
Elmo St. Blue
Linda Binda
My husband went to school with a Jack Hoff and a Chanda Lear.
As bad as "Apple" is, I still think Rachel Griffiths' naming her child "Banjo" is worse.
Dear friends of mine with a healthy sense of humor named their son "Maxwell Edison."

"Joan (pronounced Jo-ahn)
and her twin brother, Jonnaton"
Joan (pronounced Jo-ahn) is, I believe, a variant of John in some regions of Spain (as in the painter Joan Miro), so it's not that strange a name in itself. Of course, in Spain it's a boy's name and the above Joan is apparently a girl, so yes, it is weird in her case.
Wasn't there a famous Texas socialite named Ima Hogg?

I don't like the name Chaz very much. I mean, Charles, okay. But Chaz, I don't like that.
I really dislike the name Mercedes as well. And Precious.

There was a band director at a local high school by mine whose last name was Head.
His name was, indeed, Richard (thank god he went by Rick) and his wife's name was Helga which, strangely, always gave me a better kick to say than his.

Heh. I went to school with a Peter Brown. Nothing wrong with that name until you had a teacher who called role by saying the last name then the first name.
I've also known a David David and a Scotty Jo Scott. Why do parents do that?
