I feel sorry for R&H and their heirs because the von Trapps have everyone thinking that Edelweiss was an Austrian folksong.

Maria was actually last seen in the upstairs window at the Bates Motel.
Freidrich moved to New England. He sells antiques and is dating a heavy set man from New Jersey.
Aunt Max choked on Pink Lemonade while out dancing in one of GAYorges' dresses borrowed from the Baroness.

It's all in Glebb's new scintillating book... ."After the Sound."
Alternate rejected titles:

"The Hills Are Dead Now"
"Von Trapped"
"Mama Maria's House of Regret... and Skiing"

Could there possibly be a musical in the works with one of the above mentioned titles?

All of your suggestions have been taken into consideration and a new revival of The Sound of Music is being prepared in London.
The only question is who will play which instrument? I see the Mother Abbess playing a tuba and the Baroness playing a flute.

What kind of flute are you suggesting.
No harmonica?!

Of course, the Baroness can play a harmonica. I just think that her flute accompaniment on "Something Good" would be especially poignant.

I'm thinking Oprah would have had a field day with someone regarding their own poetic license with Maria's story (ala, James Frey).

Brilliant! I can see the whole show now...
All the costumes will be stark, black & white... except for the colorful Partridge Family bus that comes out at the end... and carries them with their instruments triumphantly over the mountains!
And everything happens inside Liesl's head.
Next year's Best Revival winner, to be sure.

"And everything happens inside Liesl's head."
I've seen the script, and one of the lines goes like this:
Liesl: It's always about Marta. Marta, Marta, Marta. I wish I was an only child.
