Since my previous note, the New York Times Book Review gave HOW I PAID FOR COLLEGE: A Novel of Sex, Theft, Friendship and Musical Theater a rave review and named it an EDITOR’S CHOICE. Also, an important milestone was reached: the book went into a second printing.



So, there’s much to celebrate and I hope you’re free to join me. There’ll be books available to buy for yourself or give as gifts (at $20 it’s the perfect gift for just about anyone—except perhaps Grandma). And, if you’ve already purchased a book, please bring it along so I can sign it too.

Funny that you should mention Japan because my book has actually been purchased by a Japanese publisher and it is being translated into Japanese right now. I can’t wait to see it. Who knows what it will really say? I mean, for all I know, it could contain the Gettysburg Address, couldn’t it?

Thursday night (11/1 is Marc's reading at Barnes & Noble-Greenwich Village. Perhaps we can convince him to go to Marie's Crisis with us afterwards.

In other news: I got the book in my mailbox yesterday.

I started reading it at bedtime, and as the second informercial was wrapping up on the television in the background, I finished this delightful novel.

It was a great book, it made me laugh, made me cry, turned me on (at least 3 times ), made me smile, and in the end touched my heart like no other book that I've read in a long, long time.

I'm very much Doug though...

Well... I don't know if I'm that impressive. Though everyone's mental picture is different, I'm sure. That's the beauty of reading, eh?

I need to work on my signature song before I'm meeting up with anyone. Ha.
