How ignorant is this?- Page 2

Okay, first it's not nice to refer to older people in that manner. Second, she should show her the same sensitivity you expect her to show you when your history teacher is being mean to you or other students. I would expect someone with any kind of disability to understand that. Now that I'm thinking about it, I expect anyone who has closely known someone with a disability to understand sensativity.

I do find it rather annoying when people inissit on things I know are wrong ,but chances are they feel the same way. And again, as people have said before not knowing those facts hardly make her ignorant. She might not be much of a music person. (Which is hard for me and most BWW people to understand)

Okay, now i'm finished with my look post, I'm typing with a huge bandage on my index finger so ignore my typos.

Mattbrain, you'll find there are much more important things in life than your not liking this woman. You'll come across many people who irritate you. Don't make it so important. It's probably bothering you more than her. I'd say just let it go and have some fun.

You don't HAVE to know anything.

I personally just find it odd that a person interested in the arts wouldn't at least HAVE HEARD of one of the founders of a music style, that's all. Nobody is asking you to name that tune, but for someone who presumably keeps up with art and music, it seems like you are sorely in need of tutelage.

If she annoys you this much request a new aide and then get over it. There is more to life than high school and not everyone knows about pop culture, music, theatre, movies, etc.... If my grandmother were still alive and I asked her about Phantom of the Opera she would probably know very little about it at all. Same goes with Ray Charles or the Beatles. She cared abotu her family, knew her gospel music, Bible, and more details about the entricacies of her children and grandchildren's lives than you can imagine. She was always there to support us and talk to us, but had no real interest in pop culture. I would not call her stupid or ignorant, uninformed perhaps, but that doesn't make anyone a bad person. Instead of putting so much engery into hating her and getting upset about the things she is so "ignorant" about why not try to educate her and maybe get to know her. You would probably be amazed at what she DOES know.


In short just get over it. I'm sure you have no clue how ignorant you sound right now.

I hate you, TheatreDiva.

You know, a person who manages to make an appearance on all of my threads...it really says how much of a social life this person has.

And this woman is not my aide. Not anymore, anyway. She used to be. I thought I was done with this old fart until the first day of school when I found out she had been assigned to my third period class. It had nothing to do with me but I felt like the person with the worst luck in the world.

i dont know much about who's "hott" or "big" now. some people just don't follow popular music and some people just don't follow the news.
if it weren't for bww i wouldn't know about half the things going on in the world.
some people can ratle off sports statistics like it's nothing. some people know everything there is to know about cars.
but i guess we can't all be super-geniuses like you are.

You guys, cut Matt a break. We're all entitled to become irritated by certain people in our lives for different reasons. I don't think he had any negative intentions, except to get this off his back.

TheatreDiva, it takes a lot for a person with any disability to come to the point where they have the courage to say it and admit that it's a part of who they are to people we don't even know, let alone to the people we encounter on a daily basis. The fact that Matt opened up about the fact that he has Aspergers takes a lot of strength, and for you to throw it back in his face as a cheap shot only contributes to the fear that people with disabilities have about opening up to others.

Nobody is perfect. We're all human. And part of being human is recognizing the imperfections that we all have that make us the individuals we are. And that's what makes the world go 'round. We're all different, things affect each of us in different ways, based on who we each are, how our body chemistries work, and what our unique life experiences have been thus far.

So let's just all cut each other a break now and then. We all get offended by certain things, and there are polite ways of stating that we are offended, or if we want, we can just leave it be and walk away. But being bitchy to each other simply for the fact that we can't come up with anything purposeful to say doesn't do anyone any good.

in my opinion he's one of the people who gives aspergers/high functioning autism a bad name by bitching all the time.
i've said before that i have it too. it doesn't make you all that special or entitle you to act like a brat. i learned that he needs to as well.
it's people like him that made me quit the aspergers message board i was a member of.
