If you're near the Lower East Side or East Village, The Educational Alliance is collecting supplies for hurricane relief in Puerto Rico. See below and share!

Beginning tomorrow afternoon, Tuesday September 26th, through this Sunday, October 1st, collection boxes will be available in the lobby of each EA Community Center to drop off items. We are collecting the following items, only:
Diapers
Baby food
Batteries
First Aid Supplies (ex: band aids & bandaging supplies, Neosporin and Bacitracin, cotton balls & swabs, ace bandages and support wraps, gloves & masks)
Feminine Hygiene Products

Please note - we can ONLY collect the items listed above. All donated items must be non-perishable, not second-hand, nor contain any liquids of any kind. We cannot accept open or unsealed donations of food or hygiene supplies and we cannot accept wet wipes.

The collection boxes will be labeled clearly and will be in the lobbies of each of our Community Centers:
· Manny Cantor Center - 197 East Broadway between Jefferson and Clinton Streets
· 14th Street Y - 344 East 14th Street between 1st and 2nd Avenues
· Sirovich Center - 331 East 12th Street between 1st and 2nd Avenues
· Center for Recovery and Wellness - 25-29 Avenue D between 3rd and 4th Streets

This is a public drive, so please feel free to share with friends and family.

Ricky Martin is has a charity online that is raising money. About 500,000 thus far.

I have family down there suffering - I have my grandmother who is 102 years old and needs constant medical attention. 3 of my cousins lost their homes. They are all American citizens and are unnecessarily being made to wait for aid they should have received sooner because of that @sshole in the Oval.

Instead of congratulating himself the president should be providing donation information and empathy.

I'm cynical I admit it. Wounded Warriors and other associations come to mind. For some reason I haven't delved into, Haitians hate the Clinton's. Trump got the Haitian vote down here. It has something to do with aid to Haiti. Right now the biggest problems seem to do with red tape. Puerto Rico is going to need our support for a long time. Why rush into something that is a lot more complex than what can I do this second?

How to Help Puerto Rico, according to Donny Johnny:

-Make the unfounded claim that they "avoided a real disaster like Katrina" while 95% of the people on the island don't have power and thousands are currently homeless.

-Brag about the fact that "only 16 people died", when everyone knows the actual number is quite a bit higher.

-Condescendingly explain to the Puerto Ricans that we have "something called a budget" and then chastise them for "throwing the budget out of whack."

-Throw paper towels into the crowd like you're launching t-shirts at a basketball game. I mean, could you imagine the response if President Obama had started handing out mops after Hurricane Sandy?

Seriously. Could this visit to Puerto Rico have gone any worse?
