I doubt anybody on this board would appreciate having a member of their family being the target of a cheap shot like the comment from socialitelife.com.

But, the point I make is in regards to public figures where the debate surrounds what is and isn't game for reporting and the double standard that comes with it generally being ok to talk ad nauseum about the private details of Brangelina and Bennifer, but not about a star's same sex love life.

Yes, giving people their privacy is a made-up societal more, just like holding the door for the person behind you and chewing with your mouth shut. I mean really, why do we pay attention to any of that crap?

I don't like the gossip about the other people, either.
I don't care if you're gay, straight or something I've never heard of. If you want to maintain your privacy, you have the right to do so. Or, you should. And, at the very least, your family members should be spared derogatory comments.

Speculation that a public figure is gay is one thing. Making jokes about his wife's appearance as evidence that the relationship is a farce is disgusting.

Yeah, but here's the difference- you have photos of those couples at the beach, or whatever. The same documentation doesn't exactly exist in this case; it's all just speculation, often of the mean-spirited variety. Oh, and outright lies.

I don't get it. Are the people who don't like the subject of this thread the same ones who loved chatting about *gag* Bennifer?

...and at the risk of incurring the wrath of all my friends: Why is it that the gay community seems to want to out those they have chosen to gossip about? I know I am making sweeping generalizations here, but, all of the speculation seems to be coming from places which I would think would want to have open, honest discussions. Not resort to gossip.
Maybe I'm way off the mark...
